Hygge Snack Basket Ideas for Flylady Friday and a Cosy Weekend

Good morning from Copenhagen! Friday is here, the weekend is on the horizon, and I’m wrapping up the week with my usual Flylady Morning Routine and Friday focus. How’s the weather at your end? Still a heatwave here in Copenhagen right now!

If you saw my recent post on all 3 parts of a Flylady Friday — cleaning out the car, handbags, backpacks, and more — you’ll know it’s all about starting the weekend feeling organised and ready. With just a few minutes’ effort. Yay, what’s not to love?

Colorful sticky notes outlining daily focus tasks for the week, including 'Upkeep Clean' for Monday, 'Plan and Play' for Tuesday, 'Tidy car/purse' and 'Date night' for Friday, 'Anti-Procrastination tasks' for Wednesday, and 'Family fun/rest + recharge' for Saturday/Sunday, displayed on a soft blue background.

Flylady’s Friday focus isn’t just about tidying bags and clearing the car — it also includes a little Date Night element. That doesn’t have to mean going out, splashing the cash (or spending any cash at all, said the Canny Scot!), or even having a partner. It’s about carving out a bit of time for yourself, or sharing something cosy with family or friends. When our kids were younger, I’d put together a weekend snack basket for us all — a wee treat we could dip into over a couple of days. These days, the tradition continues, just on a smaller scale for hubby and me. We rarely finish it in one go, so it often carries over into the following week. Such a simple thing, but it really does make Friday feel special. Here’s one I made earlier…

A hand holding a wicker basket filled with snacks, including bags of Haribo sweets, Polly chocolate-covered treats, and other snacks, placed on a kitchen counter.

Of course, your basket doesn’t have to be filled with salty snacks or chocolate — you could go for healthy nibbles or energy bars, a few pieces of fruit, or pop in some cans of mocktail or juice. You do you! The key is to choose something that feels like a wee treat and enjoy it with intention. Hubby and I don’t eat sweets or crisps during the week, so when the weekend arrives, it feels all the more special! What’s going in today’s basket?

Recently I’ve been enjoying salty snacks more than sweets. Here are two cracker snacks I picked up in the Swedish supermarket when we were at our cabin last weekend. The “Krit” are very similar to Ritz crackers.

Two bags of snacks on a wooden table: McVitie's Cracker Crisps Thai Sweet Chilli flavour and Krit mini biscuit snacks.

And I never used to enjoy them but now I’ve adopted hubby’s love of flæskesvær (pork scratchings). Oh, and my Bestie, Erika from America, introduced me to these Elephant sea salt pretzels – also very yummy!

So, what would you choose to put in YOUR theoretical Friday night basket? Let me know in a comment!

Have a great Friday and keep cool out there! I did a weights class at the gym this morning and just about melted, ha ha!

All showered and cool again!

Can’t wait to come to Denmark and taste the pretzels… Wonder Wetter they’re availible on our Little Island ? The heat Wave seems over here in Germany, today 27° and a tiny Bit of wind 💨 makes life more enjoyable. A pamper basket!!! I remember my first one… always marcipane, a book, a knitting piece, a DVD and some salty snacks, too… Always enjoying your ideas❣️ Love, Monika

My Friday treat – will be a nice cold alcohol free drink after a shower and facial. I can then enjoy a good book – reading in the garden on this glorious day what a perfect way to start the weekend .

Must be the motivation I need to make me and hubby some weekend ameretti! Enjoying your posts and videos….and still to try the FlyLady, and looking forward to that.

No heatwave here in north central Alberta. It’s more like fall! Our high today is 15 C with showers. 🥶 We’re not big evening snackers. We might have a bit of ice cream, hubby might have some yogurt and sometimes I have a banana and a couple of cookies. I never buy chips/crisps anymore for health reasons. Have a lovely weekend Diane! 🇨🇦

+1 dans l’ouest de la France pour la canicule ! Merci piur se rappel de ranger mon sac et ma voiture !! Bon week-end !

I was talking to my daughter about this. We are going te introduce the basket in our houses. Something to look forward to instead of the snack cabinet which is always open every day of the week.

Let’s make it special again !

Thank you for your ‘blog’ format in addition to YouTube. I have stepped away from all social media, not that I did much anyway. My one guilty pleasure is my favorite YouTube content creators. My limit is one a day, two if I meal prep while watching/listening. I forgot how sitting and reading is so nice, I hear your voice as I read. 😉

We don’t have a treat basket, BUT I try to bake something fun on Thursdays or Fridays – this week it was brownies, last time it was banana bread. Such a fun idea to put together a basket with snacks and a book or craft. School is starting back up for our teenager, what a fun way to start the school year. Thanks for the encouragement ❤️❤️

Friday night treat basket looks delicious. I’d have something chocolatey and something nutty in my basket 🧺 Yum! Enjoy your basket tonight 😊💛

My basket would include dark chocolate and shelled pistachios. I love the combination of sweet and salty. Have a wonderful weekend, Diane!

Gorgeous idea and I’d absolutely love to start this tradition, I know my husband would love this too.
At the moment in summer we like to have pizza and wine on a Friday night, ideally in the garden !
Diane I really love the new blog posts as i prefer blogs to social media although I do watch you on YouTube.

I’m so proud of you for doing weights Diane!! Go you! I am also menopausal and simple weightlifting has changed my life. I can even do full body pushups now. Aches and pains and joint discomfort, gone. Like you, I’m a Type 1 (secondary 2) so on a Friday night- I wanna be where the action is! Hubby and I live close to lots of fun dining and live music venues. Plus our son is a musician in Nashville- so we spend Fridays out about town. But if I had a snack basket, it would have my all time favorite snack POPCORN!!!! Nice and buttery🍿And for a sweet- gummy cherries 🍒 Enjoy! Elizabeth

Hi Diane I gave my handbag a good clear out which always gives me a good feeling. Spring is in the air where I live (near Canberra Australia). I find this weather very motivating which of course helps to get things done 😁😘. Loving your posts❣️

A day behind, I am! Oh well! 😁 Last evening my youngest daughter and I spent a couple of hours baking treats for the weekend! Baking is like therapy for me. We kept everything washed as we went and it was wonderful for the kitchen to be clean when the last batch came out of the oven! ♥️ Happy weekend!!!
