Paper Clutter Challenge + Day 3 of our Hygge Christmas Prep 2023 Flylady

Good morning from sunny Copenhagen! Two fun challenges for you today! A Paper Clutter mission (our Flylady Habit of the Month for October) which ties in very nicely with the third mission of our hygge early Christmas planning! Once again, if you are just joining us here, I’ll give a full recap of Monday’s post with all the details, Christmas planning checklist, etc!

First up – today’s YouTube video mission… Click to watch it right now, it only takes a couple of minutes!

OCTOBER HABIT CHALLENGE (PAPER CLUTTER)

Our Flylady Habit for October is banishing paper clutter! Your mission for this week – should you chose to accept it – is any one (or all!) of the following!

GREETINGS CARDS – cards that you have received or blank cards. Are you hanging on to them because you have space or because you will actually use them, or refer back to them? Time to let go!

ART AND CRAFTS PAPERS – how many do you actually use? Do you still scrapbook or paint? Instead of them gathering dust, let’s move those papers out and pass them on to adults or children who will love them!

CHRISTMAS AND GIFT WRAPPING – just how many rolls do you have of gift wrapping paper? Enough for more than a lifetime?!

In today’s video, from 5 years ago, you saw me sorting through our Christmas and gift wrapping papers. This morning I did another check through of paper supplies. I messaged my friend Vibeke as I was decluttering and she is going to take everything I am decluttering today (she and her daughters do a lot of crafting and design)… A large roll of drawing paper. Several sheets of poster carton. A roll of vintage wallpaper (from my Mum and Dad’s house in Edinburgh! LOL!). Several rolls of crepe paper. Woo hoo! I feel great – so many things that I am never likely to use again are leaving the building! Vibeke, in turn, is going to declutter HER supplies… Remember, when you bring something IN to your home, look for something that can go OUT! Now it’s your turn!

Did you miss last week’s paper clutter challenge? We worked on decluttering magazines, travel treasures and did a desk and/or kitchen drawer dive!

But back to the hygge early Christmas planning. Here are the details if you missed my video and Monday’s Newsletter…

RECAP FROM MONDAY

Woo hoo! ‘Tis the season to be organized, and the Flylady Christmas Planning Missions are here to help you enjoy the holidays (or ANY social event you are planning) without stress and without spending a ton of money!

For those of you not familiar with the Flylady system, it’s the easiest way to keep your home shipshape and clutter-free. We have a plan for balancing our homelife and our worklife. Less stress and more time to enjoy every single day! And I’m here cheer you on and help you add a bit of our cozy Danish hygge!

Think of these Christmas missions as your trusty guide to stress-free holiday prep. They’re straightforward and won’t leave you feeling overwhelmed. Our goal is simple: to enjoy the season without the chaos. And the best part? You don’t have to do it all at once. A little bit each day, and you’ll have a calm and collected holiday season. You can find my check-off list here (a Canva template you can modify). But – honestly, you don’t need a list to get started. Just watch my video, move your bahookie and start! (If you miss a day or two, don’t go back. Just keep moving forward! We will have Super Missions in December.)

Here’s a quick rundown of what these missions entail:

  • Cleaning and decluttering: keeping the house shipshape, clean and cozy
  • Decorating: decking the halls and enjoying the process
  • Menu Planning: stocking up on essentials week by week, creating grocery lists to avoid last-minute supermarket dashes
  • Gifts: limiting spending, choosing clutter-free gifts, wrapping as we go
  • Self-care: taking time to nurture ourselves

Are you ready to make Christmas 2023 a breeze? Here’s the first mission! Rah, rah, rah!

The Flylady has a free workbook which you can download for free here. I show you how to use it in this video…
