Seaswimming and OOTDS (outfit of the day) 7 May 2021

Happy Saturday! A quick photo round-up of my outfits of the day (I use the Dressing Your Truth colour system, more info at the end of this post) plus seaswim photos. Everything is blooming here (the best season to experience Denmark) and we are hurtling towards long summer days with 18 glorious hours of daylight (a huge change from the measly 6 hours of daylight in winter). But the weather? Four seasons in an hour, ha ha!

Bright pink with my Granny’s crystals!
Old favourites (four years old), the green was one of my Granny’s favourite colours
Baby blue and a gold graphic t-shirt
Navy and white stripes
Fresh apple green with my cherry neckscarf
My go-to neutral…navy!
Will still be wearing our winter coats for the foreseeable future!
Another winter coat with one of my favourite scarves

In skinnydipping seaswimming news, sea temperature is now 7c/44f, air around the same. This week has been full of wonderful surprises. Starting off with a moonlight swim, under the Pink Moon. A gigantic red ball rising up on the horizon. Magical!

My snacks after our Pink Moon dip…rum, hot tea and my homemade chocolate fudge
(my YouTube video for the fudge is here)
Enjoying some spring sunshine!
Morning swim with my Danish Besties
Weekend harbour swim with my Copenhagen Bluetit Chillswimmer friends

Here’s my video from the harbour swim…where I faced my fears and jumped in! I’m a keen winterbather and winterswimmer and love living beside the sea! Last year I participated in both the Danish and World Winter Swimming Championships. But, as some of you know, I almost drowned when I was a small child, so jumping into the harbour was a real challenge for me. But a wonderful experience, together with the support of my Copenhagen Bluetit Chillswimmer friends!

If you’re looking for a capsule wardrobe system, I can thoroughly recommend the Dressing Your Truth system (there is a free course on the website). Your best colours and styles are determined by your facial features/inner energy (my primary energy type is 1 with a secondary energy of 4). It has been life-changing for me and makes getting dressed so easy! (I’ve made several YouTube videos about my wardrobe, see below.) I use the Flylady system to keep me organised and my daily routine includes choosing my outfit a day in advance (I check my diary/weather forecast to see what’s ahead). I hang my outfit on a hook on the back of our bedroom door and am ready to go the moment my feet hit the floor the next morning. I love having a morning routine that sets me up for a good day!

Hugs

Seaswimming and OOTDS (outfit of the day) 8 April 2021

Happy Thursday! A quick photo round-up of my outfits of the day (I use the Dressing Your Truth colour system, more info at the end of this post) plus a few of this week’s seaswim photos. Our Easter weather has been very changeable…sunshine, hail, rain and even snow – very rare for us in April!

Cherry red and winter white, red lips and nails
I wasn’t getting much use of this lilac sweater so I
embroidered some random daisies to add interest
Winter white with gold accessories
As a type 1/4 my favourite pattern is stripes!
Our sunshine turned to snow!

In skinnydipping seaswimming news, I did my weekend harbour swim with my Copenhagen Bluetit Chillswimmer friends. Always great snacks! My friend S-J had baked a tarte tatin for us…it was fresh out of the oven and still warm – absolutely delicious (a Mary Berry recipe)! Sea temperature 4c/39f, air 5c/41f

OOTDS (outfit of the day) and seaswimming 27 March 2021

Happy Saturday! A quick round-up of my outfits of the day (I use the Dressing Your Truth colour system, more info at the end of this post) plus this week’s seaswim photos…I was finally reunited with my beloved Copenhagen Bluetits Chillswimmers group this morning, woo hoo! My heart is full today! But first my outfits…

Sunshine yellow blazer with gold jewelry
An old wardrobe staple, my Breton stripe top! (I have many stripes in my wardrobe!)
Dots on my blouse and my shirt…and “dot” pearl earrings!
Light red jacket and polka dots!
My fluffy “Easter egg yellow” sweater – chilling at the weekend!

In skinnydipping seaswimming news, I cannot tell you how happy I was this morning to finally be reunited with my Copenhagen Bluetit Chillswimmer friends! I felt like my heart was about to burst! Due to restrictions we haven’t been able to gather in groups since December. So it was pure joy to be back together with these ladies, even at a distance! Six different nationalities, together on a blustery Saturday morning (and the rain came on too) but we enjoyed our hot tea, cake, chocolate Easter Eggs and a good natter! Sea temperature is now up to 3c/37f, air 5c/41f

So happy to be reunited with my Copenhagen Bluetit Chillswimmer friends!
Our “shivery bite” snack…hot tea, freshly baked cake and mini chocolate Easter eggs

And, of course, I’ve also been swimming with my Besties, Helene and Vibeke, this week…

Sunshine galore this week!

In skinnydipping seaswimming news, the sea temp isn’t budging from winter mode and seems to be stuck at 2c/35f. We’ve had a lot of frost and even a little ice! But as you can see from the photos, also a lot of sun. And we always have so much to be grateful for…and something to celebrate! Like International Women’s Day and St Patrick’s Day…

And celebrating my Besties’ birthdays (57 and 55 years young) on the bathing bridge! We were so lucky that the rain held off… Air temp 3c/37f and sea temp 2c/35f. Our tradition is that the Birthday Girl wears the Birthday Hat when swimming: we swim naked, so it’s a fun sight! Then we enjoy breakfast on the bathing bridge… Port in beautiful stemmed crystal glasses (a gift from Helene’s Mum), hot coffee and tea in our china cups (which belonged to Vibeke’s Mum), Danish pastries from the bakers, freshly baked waffles (made by Helene) and we “set the table” with flags, LED candles and sparklers. We love enjoying the small moments and adding hygge touches to our day. Every day is the special occasion!

OOTDS (outfit of the day) and seaswimming in ice 3 March 2021

Happy Wednesday! A round up of my outfits of the day from last week (I use the Dressing Your Truth colour system, more info at the end of this post) plus some fun seaswim photos! Still very cold here in Copenhagen but there are signs of new life all around…1 March signals the official start of spring here in Denmark!

Snowdrops (“vintergæk“) and erantis from our garden…the first signs of spring!

Red and white stripes and dots!
Fluffy aqua sweater, a favourite colour of mine
Blue and white stripes, red lips and nails for a pop of colour!
Pink and blue gingham check
Yellow stripes on a grey day – I like to make my own sunshine!
Fluffy winter white sweater and navy polka dots
Chocolate brown sweater and chocolate brown leather trousers

Classic navy blue and pearls

In Danish weather news, it’s been so cold that many of our canals and harbours have frozen over. Recognise this place? Nyhavn harbour, in Copenhagen city. You may remember I made a video there, when my friend Carol Tuttle of Dressing Your Truth came to visit a couple of years ago!

If you saw my post from last week you’ll know that the sea also froze over – a rare occurrence! It only happens every three or four years…

Frozen sea, Bellevue beach, Copenhagen

But the Big Freeze was quickly followed by The Big Thaw, so we have been swimming in slushice! The sea became a slow moving mass of ice chunks and slush.

May be an image of outdoors
Mind your step as you walk into the sea!
Anyone need some ice?!

NB: A warning though that, yes, this may look fun, but winterbathing/icebathing can be dangerous. The ice is sharp and you don’t notice because you are numb from the cold. My Bestie, Vibeke, had a few bleeding knuckles afterwards and a couple of other swimmers had cuts on their backs. We’ve been doing this for almost 10 years and never take risks: safety first!

May be an image of Diane Hansen-Ingram, Helene Andrea Jarlbak and Vibeke Freitag, people standing and body of water
Baby, it’s cold outside! But the colder the water, the bigger the smiles!

OOTDS (outfit of the day) and swimming in ice 17 February 2021

Happy Wednesday! Recent outfits (Dressing Your Truth type 1/4) and some fun seaswim photos…the sea in Copenhagen froze over this week, quite a rare occurence!

Fresh mint!
Winter white and pearls!
Lilac and polka dots!
Hearts for Valentine’s Day!

In skinnydipping-seaswimming news, the sea temp is still minus -1c/30f, air temperature/windchill has been minus -8c/17f. The sea has frozen over – a magical sight!

But we still managed to get in…by making a hole in the ice! Have you ever been swimming in ice?!

OOTDS, SEA SWIMS AND A QUICK TRIP TO SWEDEN

Happy Sunday! Schools were closed this week for the autumn break so it’s been rather quiet in these parts. Had some lovely sea swims with my Besties (start of the week was mild and sunny, by midweek it was blowing a gale and we needed our fluffy socks) and the sea temperature is now 10c/50f. And hubby and I spent a couple of wonderful days at our Swedish cabin. All in all a great week!

Red and pink cosy sweater
Wearing my Granny’s crystals for some good energy
Having a little fun making an Instagram video in Flylady Zone 3
Our Swedish neighbours cat, who always spends time with us at our cabin
Hubby on the jetty
By the sea, my happy place
Don’t be fooled by the sun, air temperature was just above freezing
The Oresund bridge connecting Denmark and Sweden
Sun is shining!
Hold on to your hats…another blustery day by the sea!
Love my best friends!

Happy Saturday! A quick check-in from autumnal Copenhagen with this week’s outfits!

And in skinnydipping-seaswimming news, the sea temp has dropped again slightly to 13c/55f. This week there was so much seaweed that we felt we were swimming in minestrone soup!

This week’s OOTDS (outfit of the day) – 27 September 2020

Happy Sunday! More mixed weather for us this past week in Copenhagen. From cool to hot, cold misty and foggy, torrential rain with cloudbursts and then back to summertime temperatures today! Certainly keeps it interesting… I’ve had fun this week making some new outfit combinations from my wardrobe – always good to do something a little out of your comfort zone!

And in skinnydipping-seaswimming news, the current sea temp is 16c/60f. And the tea afterwards is always hot!

This week’s OOTDS (outfit of the day) – 20 September 2020

Happy Sunday! Crazy weather this week here in wonderful Copenhagen…started off with a mini heatwave where I was able to wear my summer dresses and sandals. Then autumn came back full force mid-week and I needed my gloves, earmuffs, warm coat and wooly scarf for biking down to the sea for my morning skinny dips! The sea temp is currently 15c/59f. Come on in, it’s refreshing (remember to pack a yummy picnic breakfast)!

If you’re looking for a capsule wardrobe system, I can thoroughly recommend the Dressing Your Truth system (there is a free course on the website). Your best colours and styles are determined by your facial features/inner energy (my primary energy type is 1 with a secondary energy of 4). It has been lifechanging for me and makes getting dressed so easy! I love having a morning routine which sets me up for a good day!

Have a super Sunday!

This week’s OOTDs (outfit of the day), 13 September 2020

Happy Sunday! I’m not quite sure where this past week went – it seemed to pass in a flash – but autumn is very definitely in the air and I’ve looked out my gloves/earmuffs for biking down to the sea for my morning skinny dips! The sea temp is currently 16c/60f, air temp has been lower âš“ (When I was a Girl Guide in Scotland our motto was “be prepared”, something to live by!) Let’s see those outfits!

Autumn is here!
Morning seaswim, best start to the day!
