This week’s OOTDs (outfit of the day), 9 August 2020

Gosh, what a marvelous week we have had weatherwise! Temperatures have been climbing since Monday and on Friday we hit the 30s (30c = 86f) which, for us, is a heatwave. So I’ve been enjoying my morning coffee in the shade in the garden, swimming in the sea every morning and keeping my outfits very light…

I use the Dressing Your Truth system for my capsule wardrobe (my energy type is 1/4). And I use the Flylady system to keep me organised – one of my simple daily habits is choosing my outfit the day before. I check my diary/the weather forecast to see what lies ahead, and choose a suitable outfit (I hang my outfit on a hook on the back of our bedroom door). No stress in the morning and I’m ready to enjoy whatever the day brings!

Have a super Sunday – hope you’re keeping cool out there!

LLAP! May the Danish hygge be with you! Hugs!

Diane

This week’s OOTDs (outfit of the day), 2 August 2020

Happy Sunday, dear readers! My DDH (dear Danish hubby) and I managed a few days away together at our cabin on the south coast of Sweden this week and had the most terrific weather. Sunshine AND heat, woo hoo! Beautiful sunsets, alfresco meals and icecream plus, of course, visits from our neighbours’ cat!

I always pack very simply when we go to our cabin: a few key pieces which can be mixed and matched. I use the Dressing Your Truth system for my capsule wardrobe (my energy type is 1/4) and it makes it very simple to make outfits, whatever the weather. I keep quite a few basics at the cabin (makeup/hair products, underwear, a few old pieces of clothing such as jeans, tops, sweaters, swimming and sports gear, sneakers and flip flops) which saves me bringing things back and forwards. But on with this week’s outfits!

The beach at our Swedish cabin where I enjoy morning, afternoon and evening swims!

Have a super Sunday, wherever you are in the world!

This week’s OOTDs (outfit of the day), 26 July 2020

Happy Sunday morning! It’s been another week of mixed summer weather here in Copenhagen (we often experience all four seasons in the space of an afternoon) with rather a lot of rain! ☔☔☔

Good weather for ducks!

But, hey ho, the sun HAS been shining and the temperatures HAVE been mild, so I have made an effort to wear more dresses this week, woo hoo! Just to recap, I use the Dressing Your Truth system for my capsule wardrobe and my energy type is 1/4. In the summer I like to wear dresses and jumpsuits: they are a nice easy “all in one” option. I’m really not a fan of skirts – I can’t remember the last time I wore one – and keep only one or two basic ones in wardrobe. Jumpsuits are a great option for me as they are so great for cycling and moving around!

Pink to make the boys wink! (Stripey blouse from a Swedish charity shop)
Navy polka dots and hot pink

This week’s OOTDs (outfit of the day) and sea swims

Here we go with another week of outfits and skinny dip seaswims with my Danish Besties! As you’ll soon see, it’s been a week of…stripes! (Polka dots and stripes are my absolute favourite prints.) I love the Dressing Your Truth system which gives me a capsule wardrobe and covers me for all four seasons… Here in Denmark we often experience all four seasons in the course of an afternoon! The summer weather here in Copenhagen has (again) been mixed, so as usual it is essential to layer…adding extra layers in the morning/evening, peeling them off in the afternoon. I use the Flylady system to keep me ticking along, and part of that includes looking out my outfit the day before. No excuses for hanging around in the morning, wasting time wondering what to wear. (I usually choose my outfit when I’m putting away the day’s load of laundry, and hang my outfit on the back of our bedroom door.)

“Afternoon tea” sea swim (Chaya “cream” tea and Swiss Roll)

This week’s skinny dip seaswims and OOTDs (outfit of the day)

It’s been a very mixed week weatherwise in Copenhagen. Blustery and cold with torrential rain several days… When my Besties and I cycled down to the sea for our morning skinnydip seaswim/breakfast on Tuesday we were wishing that we had worn gloves and our ear warmers 🧤😁 So I’ve not worn any dresses this week, it has been back into blouses/sweaters. Let’s hope the summer sun and heat return to us soon! 🍒👒🌈 Current sea temp is around 18c/64f and we have had plenty of jellyfish/stinging jellyfish to contend with this week…

I met up with my old friend Anne-Marie (we met each other 18 years ago when our sons started kindergarten on the same day) this week for a walk around Nyhavn/Ofelia Plads (which is rather quiet without all the foreign tourists who would usually be around), followed by summer lunch at an old favourite, Restaurant Zeleste (I first went there over 20 years ago), which is hidden just behind Nyhavn, with its beautiful courtyard. Glasses of rosé…what could be more “summery”? Cheers! 🥂🥗 Fresh crab open sandwich for me, Anne-Marie had “sommersalat“.

🇸🇪🏊‍♀️🌊 On Saturday (today) we did a very brief trip to our summerhouse in southern Sweden (one hour’s drive from our home in Copenhagen). It was wonderful to get back in the Baltic for a quick dip! Though I did wear a bikini because the Swedes don’t have the same tradition for naked bathing as the Danes 🏡🇸🇪🎉

👗 OOTDs (outfits of the day)

👗 This week’s OOTDs (outfits of the day)! Well, it’s been a very mixed week, both in the weather and in my mood…huge swings in both! LOL! Anyway, dressing in the colours/styles which support me is a real mood lifter and helps keeps me afloat whatever is going on around me. I’m a type one in the Dressing Your Truth system which means that my keywords are upward and light.

I feel very “sloppy” when I don’t get dressed. Nothing gets done and my motivation spirals downward. A few minutes putting on my outfit, a “skoosh skoosh” of some eau de toilette and my two-minute makeup makes me feel alive. In other news, I’ve been playing around with my kids’ old “Hama beads” and jazzing up my plain gold hoop earrings…the possibilities are endless!
So here come this week’s outfits… (Many of the items in my wardrobe, including makeup and accessories, are from Clothes Swap parties and charity shops. Scroll down for a link to my wardrobe videos…)
