Happy Saturday from Copenhagen! The past couple of weeks have been properly wintery here. We’ve had subzero temperatures, strong winds and heavy snowfall. And the sea actually froze over!

That only happens about every five years or so, so it feels very special. The power of Mother Nature! Imagine being able to walk on the sea.

Of course, that hasn’t stopped us! I’ve been winterdipping in slush ice and snow with friends. Remember, safety first. We would never go in, unless we have checked out the conditions and are prepared for emergencies.

Here I am with my Bestie (and iceswimming partner in crime) Sue. There’s something about doing slightly wild things together that makes these long dark months brighter, ha ha!
And here I am again, with my sweet friend, Angela!

Dipping in slush ice is such a strange sensation. You can’t move around in the sea, you can almost sit down, like in a chair. Fun!
The sauna at the bathing club was closed for renovations so Angela and I warmed up afterwards with coffee and cake at a local cafe.

Yum!

And well deserved, I’d say!

Have you ever tried cold water swimming? Or are you firmly in the “watch from the side with a hot drink” camp?

I’m always on such a high when I come out of the water. Love it!

Have a super Saturday and keep warm out there!
Hugs

You ladies are hard core! I’m not an ice swimmer, nor am I a watch from the side person either. I’m a watch your adventure videos from the table in my nice warm kitchen kinda girl. I am cheering you on tho! I’m glad you enjoy it so much. I imagine it is quite a rush!
This so Brilliant 🤩
Wow! Wow! Wow! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!
I love your enthusiasm! I dream of cold water swimming, but have no place to do it. Looks fantastic!
You are my IDOL! OMG. I’ve watched both video multiple times. Showed them to DH. Awed. Just awed.
I’m sitting by the fire on the Isle of Lewis feeling positively frozen just looking at at you 😂. But I can absolutely understand that, once you’ve tried it, it must be so good. Maybe one of these days I’ll try wild swimming in our own “freezing” sea!!
How amazing! And what great fun you’re both having! I’ve never tried cold water swimming, but would love to one day. I live in Florida for the time being so I definitely would have to travel to do it haha. Happy weekend Diane:)
no ocean in Iowa, but cold and snow, and so I go out to feed the birds in my PJs. The equivalent of an icy dip, in the freezing winter air*-*
I really want to try it!!! I yearn for the frosty sea! I feel like I’m in my element with snowy weather.
I really don’t get jealous—I appreciate myself and what I have, and I don’t see myself as being in competition with others. We really only compete against ourselves, but it’s an idea of ourselves, even—so it’s not an issue in my life. But, being able to dip in the sea, and with friends, and even during the special-event (frozen sea) weather condition!!! I think I could be jealous of you ladies!
Thanks for always being a bright spot and sharing the fun with us, Diane. ☺️❤️✨🌊
Oh, you look so invigorated❣️ I’m not one for cold water swimming, but am happy for you when I see your enthusiastic joy. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Wow I’d love to try that one day. After many storms in the UK, the last few times I’ve been to the sea the tide was so far out, the water didn’t even come up to my knees. So disappointing 😂😂
Brilliant Diane, I love when you post those videos, they are fun!
Fun to watch but doubt my heart would take it! Even my lazy lab 🦮 doesn’t want to go in water less than 50F/10C. 🤗🥶
Oh yes indeed- everyday I do a cold plunge! Amazingly it helps my skin not be dry and chapped. Plus it eliminates aches and pains after working out. Diane is lucky to have access to cold water 365 days a year!! Our water isn’t very cold in summer months. Cheers to you plucky gals☕️🥮🧁🧊❄️👙🏊♀️
Oh this looks amazing! Your photograph of you so bright in pink against the gray sea and sky is lovely! I’m so impressed with all of you. I also have questions — how did you manage to bring your phone safely into the water (and did it submerge?), and how can you climb the ladder to get out without sticking to the metal? Oh, and what was your harness?
That’s a lot of questions. I hope you’ll have time to answer a few in the future. Meanwhile, thank you for sharing. Seeing your posts have moved me from daydreaming about this to getting out for walks in the “bad” weather and ending my showers with a cold rinse in hopes that I’ll be ready for the opportunity to do this soon. 🙂
Brrrrrrrrr that looks refreshing 🥶
Diane, I admire your group’s love of ice swimming. I would enjoy watching from you all as I drink a nice, warm drink. 🥰
Incredible conditions!
It’s been minus18-25* here, so there’s no open water at all! I couldn’t try ice dipping anyway, I’m literally allergic to the cold and would have an anaphylactic episode. Just watching your videos makes we want to turn up the heat and put on another sweater 🥶You and your friends always look so happy afterwards though, I’m *almost* jealous
Definitely and firmly in the “watch from the side with a hot drink” camp !!
Wouah !!! Bravo Diane !
Do not underestimate the power of your positive vibes.
Thank you so much for sharing with us !
You are such an inspiration.
Even though I will never, ever, be able to do like you, it still reminds me that it’s important to step out of my comfort zone to feel alive !!
That looks incredible! A slushie ice sea! 🥶 😊
Looks absolutely amazing 🤩 fun times!!!
I’ve gone to a Nordic spa and done cold dips after a hot tub and it is exhilarating but I am still no to cold plunging year round
I always forget to leave a comment. I’m so bad about that but I always follow you and read your post. I love looking at Copenhagen thru your lense. It is a crazy world indeed my friend. But we can handle this baby steps. Sending hugs from America. ❤️
