In a Crazy World…

Happy Sunday! It feels like a crazy world right now, but here in (wonderful) Copenhagen some things never change and I love that!

You can almost set your clock by the King’s Guards marching through the city just before noon. I had just come out of a bookshop today when I heard the pipes and drums and thought, “Ah ha, there they are!”

I was in the city for a Sunday lunch date with my son at The Union Kitchen, an old favourite haunt. Great for a quick bite, chill atmosphere during the day and funky vibes in the evening!

They have a great morning/lunch menu so it was hard to choose but I went for their Eggs Royale.

Very tasty!

Our drinks: mandarin fizz and apple juice.

Afterwards we took a wee stroll at Nyhavn (which is just around the corner from the restaurant).

The harbour is still frozen over! No canal boat trips right now.

We’re all waiting for the big thaw in Denmark, probably coming in the next few days.

On my way back to the subway station, I always take a minute to look at the open air flower market at Kultorvet. Always perks me up to see all the fresh blooms!

What little ritual makes you smile where you are?

Have a super Sunday!

Hugs

Love this post. Here in south central Pennsylvania, USA, we are starting to thaw, but are now having another snowstorm tonight. So glad you have the normalcy of the King’s Guards. That would be so great! I really enjoy seeing these pictures of your jaunts about.

I am also in South Central PA and gearing up for this new storm! I love seeing the King’s Guard as well. I love when special traditions like this continue; I had never heard of this before. Thank you, as always Diane, for sharing!

Hello from Lower Bucks County, Southeast PA! Also waiting for the next round of snow. Love Diane’s posts and videos!

I don’t know if it’s a ritual, but every morning when I sit down to eat my breakfast one of my squirrels turns up for its breakfast, so up I get and throw out a couple handfuls of peanuts for it. LOL! Is that a ritual? 🙂

Oh delightful videos and wonderful pictures. I felt as if I were actually watching the Guards matching and interesting buildings.
And frozen bird above the frozen canal? Lol…good camera capture.
Lazing here from SW WA.

Hang in there, our Spring bulbs are up , though we have a nasty wind blowing them about.. Been enjoying the Winter Olympics daily…

Another voice from south central PA! I’m in Lancaster County where we have been celebrating winter with a Fire & Ice Festival and now another storm has begun. Many cancelations for tonight and tomorrow already. Hunker down and be safe is the name of the game.

What an elegant lunch and such a beautiful city to stroll around in. A frozen canal and a flower stall at the same time! 💐 My favourite Sunday ritual is a relaxed and cozy coffee morning and then brunch out with my Love. ☕️ 💕 🍽️ 🍷 My evening is cuddles with my cat and a few juicy Britbox mysteries! 🐾🇬🇧 ✨🕯️

The guardsmen look so dashing, and their music is so inspiring. Do they march through town every single day? Know you relished exploring and bonding—and I will have every single item on the brunch menu, thanks!

Sending warm vibes from NC to you gals in PA! ❄️ Cheers.

No craziness here in wonderful St. Louis! We have gorgeous rivers and bluffs and saw a bald eagle this morning. Just going about our daily life during Lenten season, had a fabulous Mardi Gras last week, celebrating our US Olympic hockey victory, looking forward to St. Paddy’s, March Madness and fish fries galore! Nothing crazy about that🥰

Hi Diane – Thanks for your delightful video with the King’s Guard marching through the city! Also, I loved seeing the colorful flower stalls! I love having flowers inside in the winter especially. Here in Maryland the snow from our last snowstorm finally melted. It was good for us to get out and about this past week. Now today another snowstorm has started! All the more reason for a cozy soup, salad and bread dinner! Take care! 😊❄️⛄🇺🇸

Another Bucks Cty PA resident gearing up for a blizzard with 12-18” of snow! Luckily it doesn’t start until tonight so hubby and I did our Sunday ritual of church then Cappuccinos at our favorite coffee shop. Also watched Olympic hockey on tv. We call family on Sundays, too. I’d love to see the frozen canal, guards and fresh flowers in Denmark. Thank you for sharing, Diane.

Do you have special ways of celebrating Easter in Denmark?
We are trying to give more importance to Easter than just Easter eggs hunts.
We have not had more than 10 flakes of snow yet this winter i British Columbia. It all went East and South…

We are heading into a cold week. Temperatures are dipping again here in Michigan. I was delighted to see the flower market! A little breath of spring in the middle of these drab wintery days. 🥰 Thank you for sharing.

Still quite warm here in South Australia, finally might get some rain this weekend. I loved your post, it made me feel cooler. I really enjoy marching bands too, thank you for sharing.

Everyday on my way to and from work I pass a field with horse, and another farm with cows. I always say good morning ponies, and good morning cows. One of the cows has recently had an all white calf. It’s to beautiful and playful. It currently only about the size of golden retriever. I just can’t get enough of seeing it. All the animals make me smile, but that little one😍❤️

Wonderful post! Hearing the Northern Mockingbirds always brings a smile to my face. Heard one yesterday on my morning walk. Most of the winter weather is past here in California. Well in the part where I live but not where the mountains are I guess. So looking forward to spring and gardening. Nothing like digging in the dirt and planting flowers. Oh my daffodils are blooming right now! First flowers of spring here.

I love to see snippets of your life in Denmark. It is so beautiful, and looks so peaceful! I’m here in southern California where its a cool 52 degrees but will get up to a toasty 80 today 🙁

Hi Diane…so glad you had a nice visit with your son. The flower stall was loveIy especially against the ice in the canal.I am in Massachusetts and we are currently experiencing a snowmaggedon !! The wind is howling and the snow is dropping 4” an hour!! There is a ban on driving. I am stocked up on tea and hot chocolate thankfully. Can’t wait for Spring!!🌷🌷

Love this post! Those eggs Royale looked amazing! Simple morning ritual for me, an early morning cup of strong back coffee when I arrive at work to start the day 🙂 even better if a colleague has treated me to one from our local coffee shop 😀
