What’s your favourite way to recharge your batteries this week? Chatting with a friend, walking the dog, trying a new form of exercise?

It’s been a wonderfully chilly week here in Copenhagen, and my winterbathing adventures have been many — dipping with my Bluetits Chill Swimmers peeps, splashing around with my Danish Besties and heading out on my own for a quiet moment by the sea. The colder the seawater gets, the bigger the frozen smiles, ha ha!

Last Saturday at Bluetits we enjoyed freshly baked chocolate cookies…

And a splash of Swedish punsch in our tea and coffee. Wow, that stuff is not for the faint-hearted, 25% alcohol… But definitely warms you up!

Norwegian chocolate hearts!

In other bathing news, my Besties and I biked down to the sea one afternoon for a “just-before-sunset” dip.

You know it’s getting cold here when Helene and Vibeke both break out their fluffy flip flops!

Apologies for the fuzzy photos but the light was fading fast…

Very magical as the sun sets! (Sunset is currently at 4.05 pm. Sunrise is at 7.45 am)

Remember your bike lights. Be safe, be seen!

I also managed a very quick morning dip with Helene on Monday.

Don’t forget your hat, gloves and scarf right now!

Oh, and don’t forget your thermos of hot tea. Chocolate biscuits optional!

Midweek solo dip in my lunchhour.

When I say “solo”, I mean I went to the club without my friends. Don’t worry, there were other bathers at the club. First rule of swimming: never ever swim alone!

I was in and out of the club within 15 minutes, whoosh!

I had been feeling a little jaded that day…but a quick dip always lifts my spirits and recharges my batteries!

Autumn is here…

And finally (if you aren’t bored of photos yet…), a round from this morning’s dip with my Copenhagen Bluetits Chill Swimmers peeps. Back on the bathing bridge again! Sea temp is currently 9c/48f. And the air was 3c/37f. Brrrrrrr!

But we had the most glorious sunshine – fantastic weather for celebrating Erika’s birthday!

Delicous Danish pastry from the bakery!

Canadian Mylène had baked a wonderful orange ricotta poundcake for us. Yum!

I had baked some mini Danish sausages rolls.

The chat was going so fast that I completely forgot to try some of the peanut cups, oops!

Hope your week has included a little fresh air, a little courage to get out of your comfort zone or a little quiet time on your own!

Hugs

Add Yours →Happy Hygge Weekend, Diane — there can never be too many photos! 😀 Love seeing you with all your different friends and besties. So glad you could catch up with Erika this week as well as Helene and Vibeke. This week I did get some fresh air, broke out the walking pad, and re-started cardio and strength workouts. Must combat the winter blues and blahs. Thank you for your encouragment and lovely smile. xoxo
Diane, you really know how to enjoy life! I get such vicarious pleasure from reading about your sea dip adventures!
Great to hear about your dips. The lake I swim in is holding at 10 degrees, but the air temp has been about 15 this week. I’m quite new to open air swimming and looking forward to seeing how low I can go. You are quite the inspiration Diane!
I never get bored with your photos!! You encourage me to live a fuller, more beautiful life 🩷
WHAT an amazing hobby!! Clearly, you are all made of pretty tough stuff! LOL Good on ya!! Love the Danish mini-flags on the food!
It amazes me how you all can swim in the cold water, and sans suits at that! I’ve spent a lot of time on the couch this week. Hormone therapy doesn’t seem to be working and I feel like a bobble head on a roller coaster. 🎢 I’m trying to push through but it’s tough. Hope the rest of your weekend is lovely Diane! 🇨🇦
I love hearing from you and seeing all of your photos.
I have been procrastinating. Today, I finally started with one folder to declutter. I was able to toss a lot of outdated paperwork.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
How does your club manage sea wildlife? I don’t have any facilities like these here in California but I would guess if we did the sea lions and otters and birds would be all over— particularly birds and sea lions on the bathing bridge.
Your week looked lovely, thank you for sharing. I went out and played in the light rain with my 4 year old today and it was so refreshing!
Walking in the drizzle, then a fair.trade craft fair with friends followed by coffee at a new place….perfect Saturday..
I always enjoy reading your blogs! They encourage me to get out of my comfort zone and be willing to try something new. Please know that your blogs are always a blessing to me, and I know to others as well!
Happy birthday to Erica from America!
Looks so fun! Been a rainy day here in the desert. Had a honey latte and may color after working on my school paper
Went to our outdoor spa for 4 hrs today-hot mineral baths and cold plunge baths then a long massage! Self-care! (In Texas)
Love all the snaps. But….I keep wondering if you will still be able to participate with this group once you move into Copenhagen or will you have to find a new club?
Love your blog about freezing water fun! I can’t imagine doing it, love that you do! : )
Lots of sea dips. It is in the 60s here in Virginia. I have been gardening a couple hours a day. Christmas tree lights are on. Enjoyed an outdoor fire pit. Still cleaning up after moving my Mom to assisted living.
You’re quite the inspiration, Diane! A week of more movement in the great outdoors definitely makes even indoor hygge types like me feel better! Onwards! 🍂❤️
Thank you for sharing, Diane!!! You always get me in the mood for adding dome exercise and hygge to my life. Cheers to a great week for you!
