Festive Friday Shenanigans!

What a lovely end to a long, dark, cold week! I finally caught up with my Bestie, Erika from America, and we celebrated the start of the season in true Copenhagen style!

Watching the illumination of the Christmas lights at the Hotel d’Angleterre — complete with the Copenhagen Boys Choir. The square was jam-packed and it was hard to move around!

Such a magical tradition, with ooohs and aaahs from the crowd when the facade finally lit up.

Many were watching the ceremony while iceskating, ha ha!

Then we wandered over to Nyhavn harbour to warm up with our first glass of gløgg of the season…

Skål! Cheers!

Have you ever tried gløgg, and did you enjoy it? It’s mulled red wine with a mix of marinated almonds and raisins (that’s why the glass is always accompanied by a spoon, so you can scoop them up).

It’s chilly tonight in Copenhagen but there are plenty of heat lamps and blankets on hand at the cafés for those who want to sit outside.

Have you enjoyed any cozy or festive moments this week? Every day is a special occasion, take time for you today!

Have a great evening!

Hugs

So close! We just spent 3 days in Copenhagen after 5 weeks in Aarhus for hubby’s work. Headed back to US tomorrow early. We enjoyed gløgg at a Christmas market earlier this week and again with æbleskiver at the Tivoli, opening today for Christmas. Took the canal boat tour and popped into Akimbo yesterday. What a delightfully whimsical shop! We’ve been here in the summer before, but this time had a grand time kicking off Christmas in Denmark. Thank you Diane for the many ideas of things to do and see in Wonderful Copenhagen! Glædelig Jul.

Lis was so kind. I am sorry the shop will close. I know you and many others will miss it. I wish Lis all the best in her retirement! And wish you and yours a Happy Christmas and a great year in 2026.

I love the beginning of the holiday season (twinkly lights! Music! Special goodies!) You have such a beautiful city to enjoy it in! ✨🎄✨

We are currently on a cruise and spent today in hot and sunny St Johns, Antigua.
Next stops Dominica and St Lucis before we fly back to England from Barbados.

It was 60 in Virginia today. Most of the celebrations are held off until after Thanksgiving, which is November 27 this year

Have you had any problems with Islam Muslims?, I see on the news that Copenhagen is being over run..I am worried for you and your family. Or is it all fake news? Glad to see Erika and you enjoying the wine

What a nice, cozy time! Happy you met with Erika from America!
And the lights look lovely!
I like mulled wine, but have not had it yet the way you showed. We put spices and that’s all. Will need to try it that way!
Lots of love and Ra Ra Ra to a happy, hygge Christmas season!
