In today’s post: summer Saturday vibes (and delicious savoury bakes) with the Copenhagen Bluetits and some Lovely Ladybirds!

Just a few of us for our Saturday harbour swim this morning – five to be exact – because it’s the Danish high holiday season and many of our Copenhagen Bluetits Chill Swimmers “flock” are away travelling. Sometimes there can be up to 25 of us on Saturday mornings, so it was a nice change to have a proper, long chat without interruptions.

Sue made her signature bread rolls (the mixture changes from week to week but today included several grains and flax seed).

Plus salty French butter and blackcurrant jam for topping. Yum!

And I brought along another batch of Cheddar Cheese muffins, freshly made and still warm. Did you see my recipe for them – click here! So easy and tasty. This week I added some sriracha sauce to the mixture for a bit of heat and spice. Then topped with sesame seeds and extra grated cheddar cheese before baking. As soon as they came out of the oven, I brushed them with melted butter. Double yum!

Our changing huts are very rustic – open to the elements on one side. Lots of room in there today…

But when it’s snowing or blowing a gale, we can fit quite a few ladies in there, ha ha! This photo is from January 2025 when the sea temperature was a fresh 5c/41f and the air chill was -7c/19f. We are pretty tough cookies!

Today’s air and sea in Copenhagen were both 20c/68f.Lovely!

Swim swum – time to eat! Here are the girls, looking very jaunty in their summer swimming “cover-ups”!

Oh, and we were joined this morning by about 50 ladybirds. I just checked the collective noun and it’s a “loveliness of ladybirds” – how cool is that?!

They were very attracted to my waistcoat and trousers!

What’s your morning brew? We had Earl Grey tea and organic coffee with almond milk. Cheers!

Do you have a Saturday ritual? Breakfast with the family, drinking coffee in bed, quiet time with the newspaper? Remember to take time for you (and your family or friends) today! Rest and recharge.

I recorded this video a while ago, but the info is still super relevant if you’re looking to bring more structure and calm to your week. I walk through Flylady’s daily focus system and how each day has its own theme—it’s simple, flexible, and honestly makes life feel way less chaotic. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by everything on your plate, this might be just the thing to help. Give it a watch and see if it clicks for you!
Have a super Saturday!
Hugs, Diane in Denmark
