Get ready—there’s an onslaught of pretty photos ahead in today’s blogpost! Are you travelling on vacation this year? I know many of you are heading off on summer adventures but, if you’re staying closer to home, why not enjoy a little holiday vibe right on your own doorstep? I love a good daytrip—nothing fancy, just a few hours out and about, catching up with friends for some hygge (making the everyday feel special). As I get older, the urge to travel far and away has really diminished – I love spending time at home in Denmark!

Today’s photos are from a birthday lunch and two sea dips with my sweet friend, Angela! We had such a lovely afternoon—delicious food, refreshing swims, and so many beautiful spots to explore. It’s amazing what you can see and do in the space of a few short hours. You don’t need to go far to feel like you’re on holiday! Lunch at Café Tvendehus, Klampenborg, on the coastal route north of Copenhagen. We opted to sit inside because it was very breezy but there’s lots of seating outside too. I’ve been there several times before with family and friends. We love the quirky decor and the delicious home-cooked food and home-baked pastries and bread!

After lunch it was time to cool off with a sea dip at Taarbæk harbour! We had a little walk around the village first, it’s such a pretty spot with all the hollyhocks and colourful cottages. Many of the houses along the coast here have their own bathing bridges.Goals!

The water here is azure blue. Breathtaking! The sea temperature was a refreshing 17°C (62°F).

Next we grabbed an ice cream at Taarbæk’s unmanned købmand (greengrocers shop) and sat out front. They have such a great selection of fresh and frozen food, plus all the staples.

Plus another dip – this time at our local swimming club! We can’t get enough of the sea, ha ha!

What a fabulous couple of hours Angela and I had. Definitely felt like a mini vacation! Have a fantastic day whether you’re at home or away!
