Happy Monday from Copenhagen where a new week awaits! If you’re feeling overwhelmed and don’t know where to begin with cleaning, I’ve got something that will help you right here, right now—without taking up your whole day!

It’s our Weekly Upkeep Clean. Just one hour a week focused on the high-traffic areas of your home. We’re not aiming for perfection—we’re building momentum and creating that fresh, tidy feeling that lifts your mood and keeps chaos at bay. And I’m going to walk you through it!

It’s Summer—Keep It Light
Summer is for fun, rest, and freedom—not stressing over housework! I don’t go full-in with detailed Flylady Zone cleaning this time of year, but I always make time for my Weekly Upkeep Clean. It’s simple, fast, and makes the whole house feel lighter. (Scroll down for my lastest video on how to have your Best Summer Ever!)

WEEKLY CLEANING PLAN (One Hour, That’s It)
Here’s how we do it! Set a timer for 10 minutes per task, pop on your favourite playlist, audiobook, or body-double with me on YouTube. Focus on high-traffic areas (mine are the kitchen, hallway, and living room), not the whole house. And a gentle reminder… If you have limited mobility, health challenges, or it’s simply hot, hot, hot where you are in the world, feel free to spread the tasks out over the course of the week. You’re still making progress! Here’s a checklist – you get to decide the order!

Weekly Upkeep Tasks. Just 10 minutes on each, it doesn’t have to be perfect, keep moving forward! Dust flat surfaces, Vacuum or sweep, Quick mop, Shine mirrors/windows, Change the sheets, Take out recycling and trash, Cull papers and documents. I keep my cleaning basics in a little lightweight plastic caddy from IKEA that I carry with me into each room. What’s in my cleaning caddy? Some old cleaning rags, a universal cleaning spray, a dusting mitt, a rubbish bag for any trash that I may find and my timer…

Changing sheets?
When our kids were small, we kept things simple—adults’ sheets one week, kids’ sheets the next. If you have pets or allergies, you may prefer to change sheets weekly. Do what works for your home and your season of life. Don’t get caught up in having the perfect routine!

Kids can help too!
Got kids? Get them involved! Turn it into a game—draw cleaning tasks from a hat, race the timer, or let them take responsibility for their bedrooms. I’ve included printable cleaning graphics in this post for both adults and kids to make it super easy.

Kids have short attention spans (I do too, ha ha!) so working for just 5 minutes on each task, or one song, is ideal!

Want Motivation? Clean With Me!
Still procrastinating or not sure where to start with cleaning? Pop on one of my body-double cleaning videos and let’s clean and tidy together!
Why This Cleaning System Works
I sometimes hear “…an hour won’t be enough!” And, no, the Weekly Clean won’t deep-clean your whole house. But it will show you that change is possible with just a few focused steps. You’ll see progress, feel accomplished, and start building the rhythm of a peaceful, tidy home—without burnout. Let’s do this together, one 10-minute cleaning task at a time!

Overwhelmed with your home and life?
If you’re new to cleaning or feeling overwhelmed with your home or business, I have a great YouTube video which walks you through getting started with the Flylady system (hands down, the best way to organize your life). You don’t need to implement everything to see results – just start as I did with a few tiny steps – and watch the magic!
