Danish cottage garden hygge! And Thursday reminders

Happy Thursday – I hope you are taking a few minutes for yourself today! A few photos from a wonderful afternoon at my sweet friend Angela’s garden cottage (kolonihave = allotment garden)!

We’ve both been away on holiday and she invited me over for yummy lunch to celebrate my birthday (which was in June). Here she is, the hostess, with the mostess!

It was another roasting hot day here (after a morning of torrential rain) and a Pimm’s No 1. cocktail hit the spot! (I have a fondness for Pimm’s…it’s the drink my Mum had for her birthday when she turned 21!) Do you know Pimm’s?

Yummy lunch of delicous homemade vegetarian quiche, salads and homebaked rolls.

Oh, and meet Chili, Angela’s sweet dog!

I think we tired Chili out because she spent most of the time napping!

Allotment gardens (with small cottages) are very popular here. A place to get away from it all, grow some produce and just relax. No frills, just back to nature.

Lots of time for reading…

I was feeling very spoiled!

Angela has a real talent for creating a really hygge environment. Love my friends!

In other news, it’s Errand Day in Flylady land (just choose a day that works for you and your family) so today I picked up a few things from the supermarket (stuck to my list), returned an online library book (and placed a hold on some audiobooks) and posted a letter. Go me!

I had three appointments first thing this morning (all requiring different paraphernalia) so I was glad that I got my Evening Routine done and had all my bags, keys, etc, ready to go. I had been dragging my feet after dinner last night so I put on my own 15-minute video and got it done, ha ha! Knowing that we only have to concentrate for a short amount of time really takes off the pressure.

Don’t skip your Evening Routine, set yourself up for a great tomorrow!

Hugs

I love Pimm’s! I have some in the cupboard right now. A former coworker from Northern Ireland introduced us to a Pimm’s cup! Delicious and yes so refreshing. How do you make yours?

Absolutely gorgeous Diane, I can’t think of a more perfect place to find some Summer Hygge. 🇩🇰 ☀️ I love Pimms, had a few on my patio here in Kent this summer. Skål 🍹❤️

Thank you for sharing! The cabin looks like the perfect hygge place. Love the pics and Chili is such a cute dog! I have missed seeing these slices of your life. (I love to be a homebody, so I live vicariously through you – especially during the summer when it is 100 degrees (F) here and feels like 115!)

Hi Diane,

I am a June baby, too. June 4th! Happy Belated Birthday.

I was quite relaxed just looking at the photos you posted. What a great day you had.

Oh I so enjoyed the pictures and all the little details you shared. What a cozy place she has and being from the USA, I never heard of a lot of this so thank you!! I looked up Pimms and I’m going to buy some of that to try. I saw the bottle says you can put lemonade or ginger ale in with it and I wondered which you preferred? Thanks for sharing!

I enjoyed too many Pimms during covid lockdown 😂😂. I class it as 1 of your 5 a day, due to the fruits and vegetables in it😉. Love the cottage garden 😍

Pimms is delicious and the whole hygge cottage vibe Angela has created is just magical! What a lovely celebration you had!
From one June baby to another – Skal!

What a lovely cottage Angela has! Yes I definitely remember Primms, I use to drink it a lot in my 20s. Lunch looks wonderful and so relaxing ❤️.

Diane,
Hellocdear I love your style and perspective on life. I appreciate the way you inspire me to clean up, get on track, and set my timer to simplify. I have been donating and selling a lot of stuff from family and friends that doesn’t serve me or my little family. I am in cancer recovery and getting back to my “normal” disabilities, I have cerebral palsy.. but i am good. I don’t wish to leave stuff and or clutter for my daughter at the end of my life. It’s truly easier to have less to sort, store, and clean up. So I find myself happier 😌 and I thank you 😊 🙏

Oh Diane-you are the best. I have not watched you in a while and I thrive on routine which I have taken a break from. Being a teacher I have a routine every day but in the summer I am off the routine. I need to get back on one! Thank you for all the advice and support-on to it now!
