SUMMER IS HERE!

Phew, it’s been a while (I’ve been busy behind the scenes with selling our house and buying an apartment) so let’s dive in!

Hello from super sunny Copenhagen! Summer has officially arrived here in Denmark (1 June), and we are absolutely making the most of it!

I’ve been enjoying lots of sea dips with my Danish Besties, Vibeke and Helene. Sometimes first thing in the morning with our breakfast and sometimes at lunchtime with our picnic of ryebread sandwiches.

And there have, of course, been some Shenanigans with my lovely friend, Erika from America. Yesterday we finally managed to get together after a couple of weeks when we’ve been ships passing in the night… First we had a walk around the city and did some window shopping.

Then we sat under the shade of a parasol, with a chilled glass of rosé, watching the canal boats passing by at Gammel Strand. Nothing fancy. Just one of those lovely moments where you sit back and think, life is good!

The long summer evenings are probably my favourite thing about living in Denmark. At the moment it’s light until almost 11pm, which feels like a treat every single year (and I’ve lived here for 27 years). A payoff for getting through those long, dark winter months, ha ha! There’s a real buzz about the city at this time of year – it’s hard not to be in a good mood when the evenings seem to go on forever!

But I know this time of year can be a challenge when it comes to keeping up with routines. Suddenly your days are filled with summer parties, graduations, holidays, barbecues and all sorts of social events. Before you know it, the weeks are flying by, and you haven’t time to enjoy it all!

So, if you’re feeling a bit off track, overwhelmed or frazzled, don’t worry. You don’t have to do everything perfectly!

I’ve linked a video below that I think will really help if you’re needing a little motivation to stay on track over the summer months. Please look after yourself!

And I’ll be back with more news very soon. I’ve been busy learning a new skill recently, which has been both exciting and a little challenging. Woo hoo!

In the meantime , enjoy the sunshine if you’ve got it, make some lovely memories, and keep looking after yourself!

Hugs

Diane in Denmark

How lovely to hear from you today! I was thinking of you as I was working in the garden this morning. Life is very busy, and I adhere to your mantra of “Put one foot in front of the other.” Happy Summer, Diane!

Happy summer, Diane! So good to hear from you and see the photos with your girlfriends. I am looking forward to hearing more about your recent adventures.

Yay! Your blog post brightened my day!! As always, thanks for the reminder about taking care of ourselves ❤️

So good to hear from you Diane with your rays of sunshine! I love the idea of sitting down with pen and paper to make a plan for the next day. I have a small business and make a paper list of clients to visit for the week but how important to also consider notes for other daily activities. Thank you and be well!

Hi Diane,
I smiled when I saw your e-mail in my inbox! I knew you were planning to move, but I have missed you. Just yesterday, I watched an old video.

You look great. I hope your health issue is behind you now.

It is great that you decluttered a lot over the years so you would have less to pack and move. Still, moving is fun and stressful. It is good that you have your sea dips and friends as part of your regular routine.

I look forward to hearing about your new hobby or skill.

Lorraine

Those simple moments when you are present and appreciate just how good life can be are such a gift. I am grateful for your photo of one and all the sun! I hope it’s treats you all well and gives you the energy for the big move!

Hi Diane:) It’s so wonderful to hear from you. I’ve been watching some of your past videos lately to gain some extra decluttering motivation. I wish you well and hope everything is going smoothly with your move. So exciting! I’m looking forward to future videos in your new home. Take care:)

Its lovely to see you still enjoying the summer with friends, despite the craziness of moving 😉. I’m enjoying watching your old videos too 😀

Hi, I was thinking about of you. Glad you are having fun with your friends.

Happy Summer!!🌻🌻

Good to see you, Diane! Sending hugs and hope you are doing well. I’ve been re watching your videos for inspiration on tough days! Miss you! Take care!!!

So glad to hear from you, Diane! Figured it’s been crazy with the housing for you. I was hoping you wouldn’t quit your blog! It’s always a bonus to see you on video, too. Blessings on all your endeavors!

Hi Diane,
I was thinking about you the other day, so it was just lovely to see your email, and get your tips this evening.
Hope you continue to have a lovely summer!

I went all around the Links on my mobility scooter today and passing Leith Academy I wondered if you had ‘flitted’ yet .
It’s pleasantly warm here and I’m being very good to myself after having had a second cataract surgery. All good, enjoying life, and taking your advice to make the most of every day. I did already know that, but, I’m a fast forgetter. 🤷🏼‍♀️💜🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hi Diane so lovely to hear from you 😊. Enjoy your summer with those long evenings and time with your friends ❤️

I flounder when you are gone. all my housekeeping and routines go out the window because I think to myself, Diane is gone so therefore I’ll join her and be “gone” LOLOLOL

So therefore hurry back so I can start again My house will thank you and so will my family LOL

It is so good to see you again and can’t wait to hear about all your new things going on. We have all missed you but know you are so busy right now. My college age son is actually in Edinburgh studying abroad. He is really enjoying it He has been there a couple weeks and has a couple more to go but he says he is very happy and has really enjoyed learning all about Scotland.

So good to hear from you Diane. I actually just checked your last video you had posted to see if I missed something. Enjoy your summer with family and friends. Looking forward to more updates. Take care, Sigrid

WELCOME BACK! We missed you but completely understand about moving house, we’re doing that this year too and it takes a lot of energy. Lovely to see you having fun in the sun, Winter has arrived with a bang here in Melbourne – so envious of your sunshine – but we rug up and still get out and about. Enjoy this wonderful time of the year xx 🌸

Hi Diane, I’ve missed you! When you move will you still be close enough to go with Helena and Viebika for your daily swims?

I missed you a lot, Diane! It brightened up my day to see your email in my inbox. I’ve been finding myself saying, “What would Diane do/say?”, over the past month or so!

Dear Diane, so happy to hear that you are fine. We are enjoying a stay-at-home holiday, we have a young student from France staying with us and show him around. We do day trips, visit different places, go swimming, cycling and sailibg and visit friends and have friends for barbecues with us. Thanks to you, I plan my shoppings, meals and picnics, do the LoL and swish and swipe, so there is no last-minute decisions on where or what to eat and our home stays nice and inviting. And we have the time to relax and enhoy. I am glad to see your pictures :=).

Hugs to you Diane! So great to get your email in my inbox! Been looking forward to it! Enjoy your Summer! We’re enjoying the milder Winter here on the coast in Central Queensland Australia, 28 degrees Celsius today?! A few degrees warmer than usual but still beautiful compared to the scorching Summers here!!! 😀

So lovely to hear from you I’ve been checking my emails daily for your blog

So nice to see you again today! Sounds like you have chosen your new home in the city which I hope we will be seeing soon. Our Summer is just getting started after a very cold winter. Spring just didn’t seem to materialize this year at all. I am looking forward to seeing you again

Hi Diane,

Wishing you well and very happy to hear your update. Glad to hear you are able to spend time enjoying the weather and the season outside and with your friends. Wishing you a smooth transition from your old home and into your new one. I hope your health issues are behind you or on their way toward being so! Hoping your pause online is a boundary for you to make your transition of setting up your new home and that all is otherwise well for you. Your YouTube videos are such a bright spot over the Your YouTube videos are and have been so uplifting, encouraging, and such a bright spot over the years. While, in actuality, we are strangers, you are totally someone I’d be friends with in real life if we knew one another. We are all rooting for you and wishing you well!

Love your reminder to savor each moment and enjoy each day’s gifts, even on crazy days. Sending you calm, centered thoughts as you relocate and begin a new chapter in your beloved Copenhagen. You will make it wonderful. Cheers!

Thank you for all the lovely Copenhagen pictures and for sharing moments with us! It is wild that it is daylight until clear into night! Thank you for reminding us to stay in the present and keep practicing our routines! Wishing you a smooth transition to your new home and new joys to be found!

Yes. Waiting to hear about your move. I have just moved to an apartment in the city. to be nearer my sons who live and work there. They are only a couple of years older than yours. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it sooner. I guess after flying the nest I didn’t want to intrude on them. Now they are fairly well established.

Hi Diane,
It is great to see you and your friends again. At present, our sunset is about 9:15 p.m. and last light being at 9:50 p.m. As Lisa mentioned, I agree it is important for us to be reminded to stay in the present. Have a lovely weekend!

It’s great to see you here! Looks like a wonderful summer for you and your friends. I love your posts.
