Good morning from wonderful Copenhagen! Getting straight into today’s tiny task for a better life. I have done the thinking for you. So you can relax and get straight to work, ha ha!
Haven’t decluttered before or are afraid to start? I am here to walk you through the process!
If today’s tiny task doesn’t apply to you (what, you don’t have a room of doom?!) then I want you to set a timer and do 10 minutes work in Flylady Zone 5, the living room. Anything you like!

And I am here to work along with you / bodydouble in these videos!
Wishing you a marvelous Monday!
Hugs

Add Yours →Oh my goodness, I have two mega-rooms of doom! A room that doesn’t have a clear purpose just now (which is probably the root of the problem) and what used to be my garage.
Going to start on the most visible and I’ll come back and tell you when I have!
We’re empty nesters (four kids launched!) and our finished basement has both a bedroom and a rec room that are now just storage spaces (and have been for 5+ years). Today I’ll pull out the things my kids have left behind and get them to decide if they want to take them, or if I can pass them on. Thank you Diane!
I gave mine a deadline and when he came to take them, I would not let him sort them until he got home because I knew he would leave all the stuff he did not want for me to dispose of. After he got home and opened them, he said Mom, this is a bunch of junk. I said I am sure it is, but you told me not to toss anything! now yo ucan toss what you don’t want.
👍❤️😘
👍❤️😘 thank you Diane
Thank you for this “wee bit” of Monday Motivation. I will be in our current room-of-doom, A/K/A our laundry/catch-all area. Also, if our roads here on the north shore of Ohio are cleared today, I will be venturing out to purchase my very own travelling timer to keep with me as I go about my tasks.
Oh my goodness, the room of doom! This is my project for the year, alongside usual household tasks. I started beginning of January to take out all boxes, bags and loose items from a small bedroom that used to be my youngest son’s room. I have been making a quiet space for me to retreat to, though any of the family could use the space. I am part way through and had a large box of doom that I opened today. There were a few items I could recycle, but otherwise all things belonging to my grown up children. I will need to ask them to help sort through the contents, along with an attic full of their things. At least I have looked in the box and now know what’s in there. It wasn’t so bad after all. Tea break time !
Right now….EVERY room in my house feels like a room of doom
Yes, rubbish for bin or recycling, things for the charity shop and things I should’ve put away and hadn’t.
Fifteen minutes well spent thank you Diane.
Happy Monday, Diane. The lights have stayed on here in my corner of NC, for which I give thanks. Sending warm wishes to those whose power was knocked out by the ice storm.
I have tackled a few three-minute tidy-up tasks in the living room: light dusting, sorting library books so I can return a few volumes promptly, etc. Even small tasks feel satisfying and encourage me to keep up the good work. Cheers!
Thanks for this motivation. I came home and was tired but still I took out one box with a mix of gift ribbons, craft suppies, tiny give-aways for children parties, etc. I threw away “etc” and the give aways found a better place to live. 2 mins, not perfect but better than before.
My room of doom is a pantry closet, and it has expanded into the next closet, so I need to toss things to make room for the overflow. I like to cook, so I have tons of condiments for different ethnic foods, plus every bean, grain, and flour known to man. Thanks for the motivation to start agin!
