Make today better, watch now! Day Three, New Year Reset 2026

Good morning! I had a lovely afternoon catching up with my Bestie, Erika, yesterday (more on that later in this post!). But first up, our tiny task for today’s 2026 Reset! We are spending a few minutes making things better. Remember, you don’t need to plan, write anything down, or do it perfectly – just do a little bit with me right here, right now. No equipment or (over) thinking required!

I wasn’t always organised, and when I felt overwhelmed the biggest thing that helped me was someone telling me exactly what to do. I didn’t have to think. That’s what we’re doing here in January – one tiny task a day for a better life in 2026 with simple daily prompts from me!

Two women posing for a selfie in a lush indoor garden, with palm trees in the background. The woman on the left is wearing a blue knitted top, while the woman on the right is in a cream-coloured sweater. Both are smiling at the camera.

And in hygge news, I met my Bestie, Erika, after work yesterday for a long overdue catch up. We used another one of our Copenhagen Christmas calendar coupons which was free entry to Glyptoteket!

Three ancient busts displayed in a museum, depicting male figures with distinct facial features and hairstyles, on dark pedestals against a green wall.

A beautiful museum, right across the road from Tivoli Gardens. The indoor courtyard is stunning – real wow factor!

A white sculpture of a seated woman surrounded by small figures, placed in a circular water feature with plants around it, situated in a bright courtyard.

After touring the various collections (French impressionists, Egyptian mummies and Roman busts), we stopped for a long chinwag at the cafe. Fabulous cakes and coffees at very reasonable (for Denmark) prices! We both opted for the lemon tart – delicious.

A table setting featuring a large cup of latte art, a citrus drink with a straw, and a plated dessert with a meringue topping. Lush greenery is visible in the background.

It was a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours when Copenhagen was dark, gloomy and cold before we both headed home on the train. Erika took the regional train and I took the S-train.

A snowy train station scene at dusk, featuring a cyclist carrying a bike up the stairs, with commuters walking below and a large arched roof structure in the background.

But don’t forget today’s tiny task. Just go and do it. Rah, rah, rah! And meet me back here at the kitchen table tomorrow for the next step of our 2026 Reset!

Hugs

Loving these daily prompts Diane! They are perfect ❤️ I’m going to do the utility room sink, been leaving it for the person who made the mess but I’m resigned to the fact that that isn’t going to happen 😂. Glyptoket day looking fab with lovely Erika, say hi from me, Kelly x

Thank you for this! I cleaned our small bathroom floor. It is a place where I do all the flowerpot cleaning and other messy stuff and it is a nightmare to clean. It has those oldfashioned small tiles that are far apart so there is a lot of tile seams (not sure if that is the right word)and uneven surface to clean. The floor is less that 2 square meters but an arduous job to do! And quess what the soundtrack in my head was? Ooo-oo-oo, I’m on fire! LOL!

Hahaha…The mirror splattered with toothpaste all over it in the main family bathroom?! I’ve been avoiding it knowing that it’s falling on me to clean as none of the other 4 people in this family seem to mind it all over the mirror and I’ve just been using the ensuite this week?!…I’ll go deal with it right now and feel better for it for sure! 😀 Thanks Diane! You’re so beautiful with your encouragement for us folks that need sunshine in our lives?!

Hi. I did a tidy off my wardrobe as it has been bugging me when I go to get dressed. I haven’t done it as I was waiting to do a full audit and clean!! Instead I’ve just made it feel better and fresher by just doing a quick sort. Thanks Diane!

I knew exactly what to clean, one of those jobs that I can see every day and ignore as it’s not high priority. I cleaned the outside of 2 kitchen drawers and the 2 cupboard draws below on one side of my kitchen. Because they are low down, I don’t notice them so much, but now they are clean, I will see my good work every time I go in the kitchen. Planning to do the other kitchen doors as well later today or in the week. Brilliant , thank you Diane

Thanks Diane!
I thought about this awhile – what is one area of clutter/mess that causes stress and I’ve been avoiding dealing with. (I have all kinds of good excuses! :)…
So today it’s the master bathroom (a very small space) specifically, the counter near the sink where my intention is to store just the essentials for my self-care routines. But we all know how that goes… I am definitely ready!!

The light above the dining room table! It’s a mess. Dead 😵 bugs. Dust. And a burnt out light bulb. And a real hassle to take it apart to get it down to clean it so having just one focus for the day will make it more doable. 3 for 3 tasks so far. Thank you for your help.

Stairs and Baseboards for me today. A tidy of my desk yesterday!
Looks like you had a wonderful day with your Bestie! So glad or you!

Since it’s Week 3/Bathroom, I spent a few minutes at our vanities. And when I say a few minutes, I mean a FEW! It took fewer than 60 seconds to skoosh-skoosh both the mirrors (I actually timed it). Then I cleaned the sinks and counters in under two minutes. Done and dusted! I realized that the only part of keeping house that takes me all day is dreading or avoiding the small tasks at hand. Thanks for inviting us to show up. Cheers!

I am loving these tiny tasks. Have done all three for the past three days. Even though they are tiny, they still make a difference to my home. Plus, they give me a big sense of accomplishment 🌟 Thank you Diane 💫

Thin layer of dust on the bathroom counter, annoying me for days, has now gone.
How long did it take? Less than 2 minutes – but without the nudge from you Diane, I probably wouldn’t have done it yet 🤦🏻‍♀️

Yay! Quick dust off and wipe down of my skin care products, the lazy susan they sit on, and the bathroom counter under and around it. Thanks Diane!

I dusted a little shelf on my bed side. 5 books are ready to leave and I will take them to the local book exchange shelf. 2 minutes and very pleased I am.
I love your pictures from your afternoon at the museum. I contacted a friend to meet to hike at the weekend.

Every morning when I take new underwear I get so annoyed about the mess in the drawer! It has been a mess the last six months. And I haven’t done anything about it until now. And that is thanks to you, Diane.

I cleaned my shoe rack area… We have a few of those trays from IKEA and they were looking very grungy this time of year. Gave those and some shoes a good wipe down. Nothing like cleaning dirty shoes, am I right? Ha ha! 🙂

Diane, This was a perfect task today. I have a shoe cabinet in my front entrance and one drawer has become a home for receipts & junk to the point where I would not open it. Well 15 minutes of cleaning and it looks & I feel fabulous. Thanks again. 👞💚

Hi Diane,
Sorted out my sweater shelf..so now I can see what I have! Went on to also sort out my scarf bin…now the closet looks much neater 🤗 Can’t wait to see what you have planned for tomorrow!

I cleared extra books off my bookshelf! Felt great to move them into their proper home. Thank you for these great tasks, Diane! So grateful for your mentorship and rah-rah-rah’s!

I cleaned my kitchen bar counter. It becomes a catch-all when everyone is walking in the door, and it is completely empty and sparkling now! Thank you so much for these small tasks. It is exactly what this busy mum of four needs.
