Sea Dip with the Besties and Staying on Track with Flylady Errand Day!

Happy Thursday from Copenhagen! Today I had a refreshing lunchhour sea dip with my Besties. Lots of seaweed along the coast right now…

Vibeke shared a mix of fresh garden pears and almonds. And we all enjoyed a hot cuppa!

Helene enjoyed her hummus ryebread sandwich, yum!

Sun was out but it’s quite chilly (Vibeke wore gloves for the bike ride)! Sea temperature is now at 13c/55f…

On the bike ride home, I stopped at the shops because Thursday = Errand Day (just choose any day that works for you).

Simple Errand Day Tips

Number One: Stick to your shopping list. Before you even step into the supermarket, check what you truly need this week. What needs using up in your fridge and cupboards? Have you planned your meals?

Use what you already have. Seasonal displays and new products are tempting, but please resist those impulse buys. I’m on a mission not to buy any more Halloween stuff! I already have some decorations at home, and the real joy is creating hygge moments, not buying more stuff…

One of the easiest ways to save money on groceries is to eat what’s in season in your corner of the world. We have lots of beautiful, colourful cabbages. What about you?

Fennel (“fennikel“) is also in season here but I’m not a fan of anything that tastes remotely like liquorice, ha ha!

Remember, self-care and home management go hand in hand. Taking time to plan, check your supplies, and resist unnecessary purchases is a gift to yourself — less stress, less clutter and more energy for the things that really matter. Like skinny seadips with friends!

Have a thoroughly thrilling Thursday!

Hugs

Hi Diane! All of the food looks so delicious! I have been leaning into seasonal eating this year. We have beautiful local apples where I live. We all love eating them as is, cut up in oatmeal, or topped on vanilla yogurt. I love your blog! Are you still offering 1:! coaching? I would like to sign up for a session!

Hi again,

I see that you are offering coaching sessions. I am on Eastern Standard Time so most of your sessions are in the middle of the night here, lol. What is the earliest/latest session you are available for? Thanks!

Thanks for reminding me to make rye bread. I have a no-knead recipe that turns out well, although I also like the firm Danish Rye. German Rye is about all I can get here in California, but I haven’t checked around for a while. I might attempt making it one day.Pears are fresh here now, and I have them on the counter waiting for the perfect ripe moment. This morning, I made oatmeal pistachio cookies with butterscotch chips I wanted to use up from the pantry. ( one more thing outta there) Also baking a wacky cake right now for the chocoholic husband. Bacon and tomato sandwiches are planned for lunch. I bake a lb. of bacon at a time and keep it in the meat drawer. Saves a lot of time. Keep up your great blog! I was tired of Facebook, too, and Instagram is just annoying.
Love, Donna in California

I enjoy your blog posts and YouTube videos much more than instagram or Facebook. I, too, am trying to use what I have. For me simple is better…less to dust and keep clean!

Look forward to reading all about your hygge ideas and suggestions for simplifying life. It’s Friday morning here in Sydney Australia, the sun is shining but it’s very windy. Looking forward to enjoying some gardening, cooking and maybe a catch up with friends.

A day late in reading this – the market looks great and it is good to eat seasonally. It’s raining here in Warwickshire, thanks to storm Amy but it’s mild. Friday morning routine done, groceries packed away and I’ve just got a little job in the bedroom to do. I made a hygge decision last week, for the first time I have swapped out our white bed linen for a rich mocha tone – the bed looks warm, cosy and very hyggelig. The white will return in the spring. Happy Friday x

Thank you for all the tidbits of everyday life, and the reminders along the way. I’ve been decluttering like crazy. Feels so good. I told my son I’m a very very cozy minimalist. House still looks cozy, but a lot of the storage spaces are now empty:):):)

Dear Diane, we celebrate Thanks Giving today, we are in southern Germany (Bavaria) your picture of seasonal fruits fits in perfectly. Have a nice Sunday.
