Happy Tuesday from Copenhagen, where the days are getting decidedly shorter and the sea water is cooling down! I’ve been keeping up with my winterbathing and I always come home feeling refreshed and full of energy. After our sea dip this morning, Vibeke and I almost didn’t need to pedal—the wind was so strong it nearly blew us straight home – ha ha!

And since we’re talking about keeping our energy up, let’s turn that into some cozy inspiration for our homes! This week we’re in Flylady Zone 5: the living room/family room. How do you feel about your living room—do you enjoy keeping it warm and inviting, or is it the space where clutter and random items, bags, shoes and coats tend to gather?

The heart of family gatherings and relaxation deserves a little extra attention this week! Don’t worry—we’re not aiming for perfection and we are not doing marathon cleaning sessions. Just set your timer for 5–10 minutes and do a little bit at a time. And as always, I have some quick and easy reset ideas for you!

Three quick living room tasks (Flylady Zone 5 Reset)
- Clear the coffee table. Remove the mugs, papers and clutter, give it a wipe and add a candle or small plant.
- Fluff and freshen the cushions and throws. A quick shake or wash instantly makes the room more inviting.
- Declutter a shelf or drawer. Books, DVDs, games—choose just one small space to reset this week.

Three self-care ideas in the living room
- Make a cosy corner. Add a blanket, a reading lamp and enjoy 10 minutes reading. Whether it’s a novel, magazine, or audiobook, take time for you!
- Light a candle or use LED candles. Embrace the shorter days and lean into the cozy darkness!
- Movie night or binge-watch a series. Plan an evening with a warm drink or cold glass of wine and some yummy snacks. I’m currently binge-watching The Great British Sewing Bee – so very hyggelig – and have even been inspired to sew some Christmas gifts this year! (More on that in an upcoming video…)
Remember that self-care is not selfish. A refreshed living room and a few small pampering moments can really help you feel cared for and ready for the season ahead! And if you’d like company while you work this week, my body-doubling cleaning videos are always there—you never have to do it alone!

And speaking of resets, yesterday I uploaded a new video all about Next Level Decluttering of my Minimalist Capsule Wardrobe. As we head into a new season, it’s the perfect time to rethink our possessions. Tiny steps and simple resets make all the difference!
What’s one little thing you’ll do in your living room this week—for cleaning or for yourself? Leave a comment so we can cheer each other on! Rah, rah, rah!
Hugs

Add Yours →Hi Diane! Thank you for the ideas. The one thing in my living room this week is declutter my bookshelves. They are in dire need of it. I hope you have a great week!
I moved my sofa today and cleaned the area behind it. Gave my coffee table a good clean as well. Every little bit helps ❤️
