Anti-Procrastination Wednesday – One Quick Task, Let’s Do It Together!

It’s Wednesday – Flylady Anti-Procrastination Day, and that means we’re choosing just one thing we’ve been avoiding and getting it DONE. No pressure, no perfection—just progress! Pop your task in the comments and let’s get it done together – rah, rah, rah! If you’re feeling overwhelmed, don’t overthink it. One small task is enough and I’ve got some great ideas for you…

A clean kitchen sink area featuring two stainless steel sinks, a wooden countertop, a decorative towel hanging on a rack, and a window with greenery outside.

Here’s my favourite quick win… Tidy one shelf or drawer of the fridge. It only takes a few minutes and doing it every Wednesday keeps the whole fridge from becoming a big, overwhelming mess. Easy peasy lemon squeezy! (Our rubbish collection is on Thursday morning, so that works really well for us.) Got leftovers in there? Let’s get them eaten – I hate food waste!

Make that phone call you’ve been putting off. (Dentist appointment, querying a bill, booking a plumber)

Declutter or tidy just ONE shelf or drawer (set a timer for 10 or 15 minutes to keep you on track)

Mend a piece of clothing that’s been sitting in a pile. I changed over some buttons (from silver to pearl) on a sweater vest last night: it took me less than 10 minutes, go me! And I’m wearing it today, woo hoo.

A blue sleeveless top with pearl buttons displayed on a hanger.

And while we’re busy getting things done—don’t forget self-care. What are you doing to look after YOU today? Have you been procrastinating on that too?

Three women wrapped in blue towels, smiling at the camera by the seaside, with a rocky shore and trees in the background.

This morning I biked down to the sea with my Besties for our usual skinny dip sea swim and a cuppa tea and chat afterwards. Due to vacations, this is the first time that all three of us have been able to get together for a couple of weeks.

An outdoor changing area with wooden benches and green walls, featuring clothing items and bags strewn about, creating a casual, beachy atmosphere.

It was raining a little on the ride, but we were rewarded with the most beautiful rainbow. Wow!

A vibrant rainbow arches across a cloudy sky, with greenery visible in the background and a turquoise fence in the foreground.

You know my mantra: every day is a special occasion!

Three friends smiling for a selfie on a wooden pier near the water, dressed warmly and enjoying their time together.

Okay, time is marching on. Go do your task and come back and comment. Rah, rah, rah – I will be cheering you on with my pom poms!

Hugs

I took care of a doom pile by filing and shredding. Only took a few minutes and I reclaimed a space. I plan to have an iced coffee after I take my youngest to Freshman Focus at the high school this afternoon as a treat. Celebrating the last one going to high school!

You keep inspiring me. Thank you for the work you do. I started following Fly Lady , still do. Then I discovered your work and it showed me how to do what Fly Lady was suggesting. Now you are my inspiration.
I still haven’t got it all working consistently but I manage a winning streak now and again. !

Ugh, fertilizing the garden, one watering can at a time! I did the front garden today, too 30 minutes and going to do the back tomorrow. It has been in my mind for awhile and today was the day! I am off for a pedicure so my self care is in the bag for today. Then visiting with a friend. I have 15 minutes to PUP then I am off!

I returned my CD’s and books to the library. I’d already renewed them online once so I knew that one was on a wait list for someone else. It’s so easy to just renew online ad infinitum and push the job back down my errand list. So TICK, it’s done!

We are also on our summer break. We are on our bikingtrip in Denmark, following the N8 and N6. Al lot of rain today but I remember your saying, because we have appropriate clothing (and a lot of luck, because it was dry the whole morning). Now nearby Nyborg.

My anti-procrastination task is to take myself over to Spec Savers to have my glasses tightened. In the summer heat they tend to slide down my nose— so annoying!

Thank you, Diane, for your encouragement. I didn’t spend more than 15 minutes organizing the fridge and cleaning two shelves in the hallway closet. I even found a pair of sunglasses I had forgotten I owned! 😎

I love having an anti procrastination day! I rounded up items to donate, turned in some paperwork, and completed a small but dreaded task. Feels great!

My antiprocrastination thing is unbelievible :-)) Watching Fifty shades of grey on Netflix, cause its leaving tommorow :-)) Decided that I want to watch it, and its not what I was thinking at all. Yet :-)) Almost an hour to go :-))

Hi Diane!
I just wanted to let you know that YES you are a bright spot in my day! I’ve been recommending you to colleagues, too. 😁 Thank you for your very practical tips and positive energy! You make the world a better place. God bless you. 🙏🏻😇

Hi Diane,
Wasn’t intending to do anything when I got home from work but tidied a cupboard in the kitchen and went for a 50 minute walk with my husband!! Thank you for the encouragement.

I held up every item of clothing in my Mother’s closet and one of her dressers so she could make some hard decisions. I am so proud of her! She filled 4 trash bags and we eliminated so many hangers as well. She said it finally didn’t bother her to part with it. Some of it was over 40 years old!

Finished assembly of bookcase I started two days ago and made a call regarding my Mother’s estate I’d been putting off.
Self care : spent an hour at the pool.

I helped my daughter declutter her closet in preparation for the new school year. Watching Diane’s closet decluttering helped me know what to say so my daughter felt more in control of her space and wardrobe. It felt good to fill a bag of things to share with others in our community. Rah, rah, rah!

I have been working in my craft room/office for the first time in years. Wednesday we loaded the car with Goodwill donations that have been sitting around for months.

I’m loving your blog Diane – I’ve just started reading it this summer. I’m really enjoying it as I can access your links, videos and information but without getting distracted by the rest of YouTube, which is great. I made your breakfast rolls this week too – they are absolutely delicious and so easy to do. Enjoy the rest of your Summer 💛

Today, I am going to declutter 1 shelf in the linen closet. I did the whole closet about a year ago, but now rgat it’s summer her in the SF area, I have added blankets for storage and old ones really need to be gone through!

I’ve been procrastinating over two things – whether to get rid of a food processor I never use and WHAT exactly to do with a a sack of pony manure I bought for the garden but apparently needs “aging” for a year before I add it to any plants.
So, I’ve put the processor in a box by the back door ready to drop off at the Op shop and I’ve instructed the husband (haha) on where in the garden it’s safe for him to make me an extra special compost pile.
Waving “Hi” to all the lovely anti-procastinating ladies who’ve commented above. 🙂
Enjoy the rest of your summer break Diane!

I went through some boxes of craft supplies, and reduced 3 boxes to 2, leaving some space to organise my closet, and which I also completed. Yay!
