Recipe for (party) success!

As you all know, I’m a huge fan of the Flylady. If you don’t already know that, then you haven’t been paying enough attention! πŸ˜‰ I love her planning tools for keeping organised. I love systems that make light work of any task…

On Saturday’s I usually share a favourite recipe here on the blog. Today I want to share a recipe for success, ho ho! Party planning success πŸ˜‰ I’ve taken the idea from the Flylady Control Journals (all of which you can find right here) and made my own (Birthday) Party Control Journal. It’s not perfect, it’s a work in progress. But a few people have asked for it, so here you are! πŸ™‚

I’ve used it the last couple of years when planning birthday parties for DD8 and DS10. We held a fantastically fun birthday party for 12 girls from DD8’s class yesterday afternoon and everything went swell, just swell… πŸ™‚

If you’d like a copy of my (birthday) party planner, I’ve uploaded it to http://www.keepandshare.com/ (Thanks, Candace, for the name of this website.) You can get it by clicking here or by clicking on this link

http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/1814455/birthday-party-control-journal-doc-march-20-2010-4-58-pm-26k?da=y

My party planner is based on a traditional Danish children’s party. Did I forget to add something? Do you like it? Then please leave me a comment. Don’t forget to leave your boots at the door… πŸ˜‰

Have a simply super Saturday! πŸ™‚

  1. Hope your DD has a great birthday weekend! I just tried to access the Party Planner on the KeepandShare but it says this: You (user name bentoboxuk) have just tried to access the document titled "Birthday Party Control Journal.doc — March 20, 2010 4:58 pm — 26k". This document is located in the KeepandShare account "dianedenmark". To view it you need to ask the owner of the account "dianedenmark" to set the Share With controls to give your KeepandShare user name "bentoboxuk" rights to view the document.

  2. Thanks! I have got it now! This is great! I love it when a plan comes together :o) For me I will need to put the Ingredients list in the Birthday cake section. Otherwise I know I will have forgotten something like baking powder or icing sugar! And we always do "rainbow sandwiches" just loads of different sandwiches on white bread with different fillings and cut into triangles. Pretty standard British stuff but most people here only get them when they come to our house for a party LOL. Must add marg, potted meat (AKA Potted Dog!) and mayo to the planner too!

  3. Glad to hear the party went well! What on earth is the Chocolate Game?

I've used Flylady's control journal for get-togethers for about 5 or 6 years now and they are wonderful. They help keep me on track and out of trouble *most of the time*

    p.s.
I was telling my DS about decorating with flags for your DD's B'day and he wants to do that for his next years party. Canadian flags and a monster theme. Sounds like our House of Commons on any given day!

  4. Hi BentoBox!

Love the sound of potted dog! πŸ˜‰
And I miss those little sandwiches…a real British delicacy! πŸ˜€

  5. Hi SassyJen! I think your House of Commons sounds just like any other one around the globe… πŸ˜‰

The Chocolate Game is an old British party game. Throw a dice, if you throw a 6, you don sunglasses, hat, gloves and have to cut up a bar of chocolate with a knife and fork. Keep the dice going, the next one to throw a 6 takes over… Only allowed to eat one square of chocolate at a time. Fun for all! πŸ™‚ I'm doing a post soon on party games. Watch this blog space!

    xo
