Any punk fans out there?

Good evening from Copenhagen! What are you up to this weekend?

I had a very fun Friday night out at the Cannonball Punk Rock Festival here in Copenhagen. It was such a treat to hear some proper, live punk music again!

I was there with my New Zealand friend, Kathryn – we’ve been friends now for 20 years. She’s my rock concert buddy!

The absolute highlight of the night for me was seeing the Buzzcocks, woo hoo!

The Buzzcocks were my very first band love. They were absolutely buzzing and in top form on Friday night. Pure magic. Oi! Oi! Oi!

If you watch my YouTube videos, you’ll know I still have the poster that used to hang in my bedroom as a child…

I was so happy to see them again, especially because the very first time I saw the Buzzcocks was in 1979 in Edinburgh. It was my very first rock concert (I was 12 years old) and the support band for them was Joy Division! Steve Diggle is such a lovely guy, full of fun!

There were a couple of food trucks, right inside the same room where the bands were playing, so dinner was a flæskesteg sandwich (crispy roast pork on a bun with red cabbage and pickled cucumber). Yum! Washed down with a few gin & tonics…

The Damned were great too! Dave Vanian made a fabulous entrance in his sharp black suit and flowing red scarf. He later removed the scarf and his suit jacket, but kept his gloves on. Very swish!

And Captain Sensible never seems to change! Always in his signature beret and red stripes. Love his style!

It was such a fun night out and a lovely reminder that a bit of live music is very good for the soul!

What was the first band you ever loved? Have you ever had the chance to see them again years later?

Have a brilliant evening!

Hugs

I saw The Buzzcocks in Manchester. Also The Boomtown Rats.
However, the concert that was the most exciting for me, was The Jam (actually in a marquee in Saddleworth). Never saw any of them again. My friend was the music buff really. X

Oh no, Diane. I’m glad for you and your fun but I don’t like this kind of music. However, thank you for share your life with us. It’s always a pleasure.

So cool! Definitely listened to the Buzzcocks when I was younger! Maybe as some “self care” I’ll listen to them this week!

Hi Diane! Around 1978 I used to share a flat in Croydon with Rat Scabies (Chris Miller). What fun days/nights we had. 🤣

Thank you for supporting the live music scene Diane!! Our 23 year old son is a musician and we love all the funky little venues in Nashville, it’s a rockin place!!🎸So fun being in a musical family!!! Enjoy your day🌞 Elizabeth!

1986 I believe. Duran Duran at David Bowie’s glass spider tour. The only time I saw DD live but I love that they are still making new music! U2 was my second favourite band and I have seen them live several times. Missed their 1997 concert here because I was giving birth to my second son! Priorities!😊

Back in the day…early eighties, an eclectic mix of The Smiths, Blue Rondo à la Turk and Kid Creole and the Coconuts come to mind. I still have every vinyl record I ever bought, from Bauhaus to Bananarama, the 12 inch Blue Monday and the Belle Stars single pressed in the shape of a star, all with the authentic scratches and jumps that I expect from the music of the eighties 🤣🤣🤣 much to the horror of my husband. Caroline 🇬🇧

So much fun! I went to a lot of concerts in my younger days & have gotten to see a few again now in my older days, lol.

Duran Duran was my favorite & I had to camp out overnight to be able to get good tickets the next morning (when you had to purchase concert tickets in person). I got to see them a few years ago & we’re all looking a little older but still had a great time. I also got to see Howard Jones just a few months ago & that was a fun blast from the past too.

Glad you had a great time!

Can’t believe I’m confessing to this but my 1st ever live concert was Shakin’ Stevens – went with a neighbour 😳 Needless to say I haven’t been again 😅 Best 1st concert was probably Bon Jovi at Milton Keynes bowl (even though I only went as flat mate had a spare ticket) but they were incredible, came back a fan. Hubby loves Iron Maiden so we went to Paris this summer – him to go to their country but our children and I just to see Paris 😉 Great photos, Captain Sensible’s outfit reminded me of the ‘Where’s Wally?’ books!

Wow! This looks great. We went to see Amy McDonald (from Scottland 🙂 recently and had lots of fun. A bit softer than this.
Have a good week and I hope you don’t hear a “beeeeep” sound cobstantly.

I love punk and rock music, I use to play guitar myself. It would be great to go to a festival like this! I have seen some of the local Finnish bands in the resent years though!
