Happy Friday, everyone! How are you getting on with Week 3 of our Minimalist Christmas 2025 series? In Monday’s video I walked you through this week’s plan and told you what I had set as my own personal goals…

So here’s a little update! I’ve been doing a spot of cleaning in Flylady Zone 1. I gave my dearly-departed-Danish-father-in-law’s silver candlesticks a quick polish. It only took a few minutes using polish and some rags (hubby’s old cotton work shirts), but it feels so good to have it done, woo hoo! Here’s the before photo…

And the after. Satisfying!

Plus I found a few silver polish strips, cloths and dip that no longer work. So they’re being decluttered, woo hoo! (We have a “hazardous waste” area at the recycling centre for chemicals, lotions and potions, old paint, etc.)

It’s so nice to get the candlessticks all shiny again and ready to sparkle!

I also looked through my two boxes of Christmas decor. I have one box for decorations and one box for everything tree related (lights, baubles, tree skirt, etc). Did you see my mega declutter last year? We used to have 8 boxes full of Christmas decor! I only kept the things we use, love and that have meaning for us…
Nothing to declutter this time round, but it was such a joy to see everything again! I looked through our festive linens and have ironed the Christmas table runner which I embroidered for my dearly-departed-Danish-father-in-law in 1998 (when I first moved to Denmark, after 10 years working in Luxembourg).

Funny to think that I was sitting for nights on end, embroidering it with cross-stitch, before our kids were even thought of, over 25 years ago… Not sure I would have the patience or eyesight to be able to stitch another one now, ha ha!

Let me know what you are doing this week! Here’s the list for inspiration…

I hope I’m not making you hungry but here’s another photo of the table runner…from last year’s Christmas Cookie Exchange in my International Ladies Club. Yummy home bakes! Now that’s what I call julehygge!

Add Yours →I am loving the Christmas prep and all of the motivation you are sending our way! Thank you!

I love a cookie exchange!!!
Thanks for keeping me on track, Diane. 🙂
I mentioned earlier that we moved my mom to assisted living and we had to dispose all her household belongings. Things that needed more thought or for others all came to our house. Immediately afterwards we delivered some items to my nephew in South Carolina and took somethings to our winter home in Florida and spent a month there. We have been home 4 days and are trying to catch up. The tree is up but not decorated.
For our Christmas silver well and tree platter, I seal it in a sealing bag with a piece of chalk. If the air can’t get to it, the large tray can’t tarnish. If there is any moisture the chalk absorbs it. Saves us headaches every Christmas for a once a year item.
I am loving how you are giving us three things to do in each zone. It has really been helping me stay on track and not trying to get it all done at once. All, love the Christmas help
I worked in Zone 1 today, trading our my straw hats for winter beanies and putting my gloves in an easily accessible spot. We have already had some mornings in the 20s (F).
The candlesticks look amazing Diane. It’s lovely how they come up beautiful and shiny. My Christmas prep is mainly buying presents for my grandsons and a few other special people. I’m going to my sister’s place for a few days over Christmas and the Christmas celebration will be at her daughter’s home. I’m looking forward to it. So it’s just following my routines and keeping up with general cleaning. I love your self care ideas❣️
