“It’s fashion, darling!” Sushi, style and seasonal chic in Copenhagen

Today on the blog…”it’s fashion, darling”! Sushi, style and seasonal chic in Copenhagen! What’s happening in your neck of the woods right now, any interesting book or music festivals? Do you have any outings planned – a trip to the local garden centre, farmers’ market or country fair?

This week my Bestie, Erika from America, and I attended CIFF (the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair) at Bella Center. Since the fair is geared toward buyers and creatives, it’s more of an exclusive, behind-the-scenes experience than a public event.

We took the Metro to the convention centre (a 15-minute ride from Copenhagen city centre), arriving just in time for a mini catwalk show.

Always fun to see the clothing trends and colour palettes for next spring and summer! Though some of it is definitely an acquired taste! Looks like the “derelicte” trend from the past couple of seasons is still with us…

As a Canny Scot, I always manage to sniff out the free food and drinks at these types of events. First up was a peach Martini spritzer. Very welcome and very refreshing on a hot Copenhagen summer day! Cheers or, as we say in Danish, skål!

And just look at what we found next – the ultimate cap to go with those drinks, ha ha!

A colorful cap with a teal and pink design featuring the text 'IT'S 5 O'CLOCK SOMEWHERE' along with the brand name 'JOHN HATTER & CO' displayed prominently.

We had a nice chat with the cap sellers, John Hatter & Co, who are from Sweden. They were thrilled to be producing official merchandise for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Can you spot your country?

We took a break for lunch at a Sticks’n’Sushi pop-up inside the conference centre. It’s one of Copenhagen’s favourite sushi chains, and you’ll spot their restaurants all over the city (we’ve been eating there since our kids were little). Consistenly good – you know exactly what you are getting.

Then came a surprise side of free gyoza, noodles and drinks from the Woodbird clothing stand. They’d parked an entire food truck right there — a brilliant gimmick that drew a big crowd and lots of buzz. We left well-fed… but still couldn’t tell you a thing about their clothing range, ha ha!

But back to the clothes… I loved this message from a Danish kids’ clothing brand. Yes, yes, YES, we need more colour in our clothes and a lot less beige – thank you!

A display featuring a green sign that says 'LET'S BRING BACK COLORS' and a blue sign below it reading 'It's been beige long enough', with colorful clothing hanging nearby.

Always lots of fun details in the kids’ clothing. We had a chat with the lovely owner/designer of the German label, Danamade. How about this mermaid dress?

Lift the mermaid shell to reveal…”I sing, I twirl, I’m a magical girl”! Some of the Danamade styles are available in both kids’ and adult sizes.

Next up, we checked out the stands of all my favourite Danish brands and spotted this t-shirt from Saint Tropez that I will be looking out for next spring! LOVE!

Saint Tropez had whole racks of cute things. Lots of pink, red and white ahead for summer 2026 – yay, my favourite colours!

Last year, I simplified my wardrobe even more — narrowing it down to just five colours (white, red, pink, blue and acqua). You can see how I did it and why in my YouTube wardrobe and fashion series.

To finish off the day, we stopped by the CIFF basketball area where Erika threw some hoops – she’s a natural. Score!

Have a wonderful day, whatever you’re up to! Make sure you’ve got something fun on the horizon — we all need little things to look forward to…ideally sooner than spring/summer 2026!

We live in a rural area of Virginia. The county fair has come and gone. In August we are moving my mother to assisted living, going to dinner with friends, soaking up the last days of summer. In September we have a trip and a festival planned.

We are in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The world famous MusicFest is in progress at this time of year. The weather is perfect.

Summer is coming to a close here in Southern IL as school starts back in a few days. We’ll still enjoy our evenings out on the patio watching the sunsets, but as grandparents, the days where we filled our home with our grandchildren’s shouts of joy are put aside until the Christmas holidays! We’re getting ready to plant a few trees and get ready for Fall! Maybe a few more days at the community pool before it closes! 🙂 LOVE the red and white for next summer!

Hello, from Zebulon, Georgia. We are currently experiencing some cooler temperatures and gray skies because of some weather fronts moving across the country. It gets me in the mood for fall and crisp days. These days won’t last long, though. Hotter temperatures will soon return. I have been looking at my wardrobe and incorporating some tips I saw on a YouTube video. Your video comes at the perfect time. I saw a quote this week on Duolingo: “Not being able to change myself, I change my clothes.” So true. A few encouraging changes can really help the current outlook. Thanks! Cara Cook

We are in Cornwall, UK. It’s the annual Boardmasters festival, which is a mixture of surfing competition and music fest. We’re not going, but our granddaughters, who are over from Tasmania, went yesterday. Haven’t heard from them yet, I think they’re sleeping it off! 😃🎉🏄
