Today’s video is a very personal one. I’m sharing my experience of caring for my Mum during her final days at our family home in Edinburgh and being with her the moment when she died. I hope you’ll find it uplifting, there are definitely some sweet memories! It’s taken me time to gather my thoughts to make this video – I’m still in the grieving process – but I feel its important to share my personal experience as my brother and I had no idea what to expect. I talk about the physical changes Mum went through in her final days, how we made her last days enjoyable, navigating having nursing staff and hospice carers coming into her home and self-care to get through the challenging days and nights. My hope is to provide insight, support and some comfort to others going through a similar journey.
