Crafty Tuesday – Cheerleader ‘baton-thingies’

I was a bit miffed this morning to find not one but two (empty, bien sûr) toilet rolls in the bathroom. Am I the only one capable of replacing them? 😉 Given that one of today’s top news stories was that the Danes produce more garbage than any other European nation (but, hey – give us a break – we’re great at recycling and being green!), I decided to put those two toilet rolls to good use…because it’s Crafty Tuesday, right?

I proudly present to you today’s craft. My [ahem] cheerleader ‘baton-thingies’. And in true Flylady fashion, they won’t take more than 15 minutes to make! 🙂

You’ll need:

• toilet rolls
• a punch (or a pair of scissors or a sharp implement for making holes)
• crepe rolls or ribbon

Make holes around the top end of each loo roll using a paper punch. I managed about 7 holes. Mum says, “Be very careful if you’re using scissors!” (If you are using scissors, you might want to put a big lump of plasticine inside the toilet roll to make it safer.)

Decorate your toilet rolls. Paint them, cover them in electrical tape, glue a piece of paper around them. Whatever you fancy. Just use what you have lying around. I’ve painted these ones bog-standard plain white because I know DD8 will want to decorate them with stickers, glitter etc when she gets her hands on them after school 😉

Thread through long lengths of crepe paper or ribbon and tie. Crepe paper makes a good sound….swish, swish. [And swipe?]

Voilà…we’re done…. Time for me to do my 15 minute declutter (as part of my Scaredy Cat Challenge). And when I’m finished, I’m going to give myself a big “Ra, ra,ra”! 😉
