Add Yours →Hi Diane, thank you; the reset has been great. Small wins and less procrastination have become my mantra!
What I really want to know is what’s next? Longer videos less often? Your positivity rubs off so I like to see you as often as possible!
Have a lovely weekend!
I have achieved SO much Diane! Thanks for this motivation to start this year! I’ll be chipping away at my little corner of doom I have left and I have a wardrobe of doom in one other room which has everything stuffed unorganized and unsorted from our hurried move 6 months ago. Almost there with the decluttering and downsizing after 5 years and I’m so thrilled?! It’s SO much easier to maintain and enjoy life now that all the clutter and chaos has gone!
Seeing you every morning has been wonderful! Thank you Diane for inspiring us❤️🙏🏻
It was fun to do the little tasks, you were my cheerleader. Thank you. I watched your decluttering video and learned you were a punk – well, you still are – putting people before profit and sharing your most precious, this is your time, for nothing but a smile. Thank you for this kick start into 2026!!
Good morning Diane! Having one little task each day to get me moving has been great. I’ve been watching you since 2020 and you’ve really helped me whip my house and my routines into shape. Now I need to downsize more because like you, we will be selling our big house this year where we’ve lived for 16 years and moving into a townhouse that is exactly half the size. I’ve decluttered a lot over the years with you so there doesn’t seem to be any obvious must-go items. Now the hard part is cutting even more to fit the new space.
My plans are to watch these videos every month, until I have some motivation/inspiration to do something on my own. I just can’t seem to get off the struggle bus.
You are already taking the first and second steps off that bus by acknowledging the challenge and committing to watch the videos again to remind you of the skills that you are developing. Well done! 👍
Watched the tiny tasks but am on top of things. but my basement is a big mess of things that are from my parents and things i not do anymore as my health is not well. i too need to clean out and move to a apartment. i will watch again you going thought your moms stuff, it was so sad. There are boxes of photos, books in German, 14 saws, tools so much stuff and i do not know what to do with it. i do use the timer for 30 minutes it helps me not work 6 hours non stop and doing one room per week.
I have a similar situation but have made a start and am here to tell you I feel it can be done…one thing Diane suggested that helped me was to bring one and one one box of stuff up to deal with each session. The tools were hard, so many and a lot I didn’t know. Think.about a good place to donate them if you or a family member can’t use them. In other words, long before you actually want to move…find out your options for dealing with them…otherwise you will be overwhelmed…good luck…slow but steady
What a helpful series! I know you have a lot of videos already on YouTube, but I hope we’ll see more. I know I’d enjoy a weekly reminder of the Flylady zone I’m supposed to be in, or more of your recipes/outings/Danish culture. And of course, bring us along as you pack and move!
Thank you so much for this series, Diane:) These small daily doses of motivation are exactly what I needed to kick off the new year!
Diane – thanks so much!
These past weeks have been very encouraging.
The one thing I’ll carry forward is to clear one small defined area (that has been cluttered for such a long time and caused me much stress) for 10-15 minutes. To keep identifying those areas and clearing them at least once or twice a week (in the Fly Lady Zone). I almost said “tackling” them, but for me, that feels like a fight and I now I focus on the free and clear sense I feel once it’s done. And it isn’t as hard as “tackling.” Choosing and clearing (as a gift for me) is a better way to view it.
3 things that gave me joy yesterday:
my pretty white tulips with their bright yellow centers
seeing a red fox in my snow-covered backyard
meditating with my daughter
peace and love Diane – thanks again!!
I like what Kate wrote about focusing on the happy feeling of success and progress that occurs after completing a little task. I have experienced that too, and I’m so grateful to you, Diane, for inspiring that discovery. Baby steps produce tangible results AND transcendent joy!
One thing that made me smile yesterday: Seeing bluebirds and black-capped chickadees feasting at our bird feeder. If they can brave the cold to forage for food in the snow, I can at least clean the sink in my cozy kitchen. Many thanks for this uplifting and get-up-off-yer-bahookie series. Cheers!
Love you Diane! Tiny tasks matter! You may not be able to do it all, but you can do something! That Practical Mom once said when she was a waitress, her mantra was ‘full hands into the kitchen, full hands out of the kitchen”. What I learned from that was, when I go from one room to another, take just one thing with me at put it where it belongs. Same thing again when I leave that room. If I’m going upstairs, take one thing upstairs with me…etc. Tiny tasks matter!!
Thank you so much for this, Diane! A small (big!) win first thing in the morning had been a wonderful way to start the day!! I appreciate you and all you do to encourage and motivate and set an example for us — you are a blessing. Truly. *Rah-rah-rah* and a big well-done from me to you! 🎆💖🎇
A small (big!) win first thing in the morning *has* been a wonderful way to start the day, I mean. 🙂
Thanks, Diane, for the series❣️It’s been a good way to transition out of the holiday season, and adjusting to a slightly busier lifestyle. Housework has never been my favorite thing, but following you the past several years has made it less onerous. Decluttering has always come naturally to me, and using the system has made me more forward-thinking about it.
My joyful reflections:
*An unexpected small surgery was made easier because laundry was caught up, and I had several nice main dishes available because I batch-cook.
*Because I’ve intentionally focused on making new friendships in retirement and staying connected, I’ve received calls and texts from girlfriends checking in on me the past couple of days.
*Because I LoL, I have plenty of clean clothes for the several days I can’t lift a laundry basket.
Happy Friday!
Thank you sooo much. It has been an eye opener to be honest. At first, I thought I was just curious/didn’t need a re-set/etc. I did find it useful, fun, and revealing thought. When you said, now the bag of stuff for the charity shop – move it on, I thought it was funny, because I literally looked up and there was mine, taking root. Actually, it’s still there, but it will go soon (transport being the issue).
It’s made me tighten up the organisation, be less all or nothing, and feel good for keeping on top without spending too much time. Also, haven’t done meal plans since my children were children, and it’s so easy/useful. Clean a bin day was good (probably an unappealing task). Also looking forward to the weekend/looking forward in general.
I clicked on one of the older videos and hands up have never cleaned a table leg in my life, and forgive this/won’t follow up on that one. Terrible I know. Somethings I was already doing, and am a purger anyway/get clothes ready for next day, so felt good those days ha ha. So will continue with the ra ra ra!
Such a fantastic series, Diane! the last four weeks have found me putting “DDTT” (Diane-Denmark-Tiny-Task) on my planner morning routine. I won’t say it’s a full-blown habit yet, but it’s getting there.
I have found that the “not thinking” part of your plan was so incredibly helpful. So, in that vein, I took some time today and wrote down Tiny Tasks 1 to 31 at the back of my planner, and I plan to do one every day, as dictated by the calendar date. If I miss one or it falls on a weekend, I’ll just pick up wherever I am in the month. This way, I can just check what’s on task for the day and rah-rah-rah myself into doing it. 🙂 No “all or nothing” mindset, just little improvements as often as I can.
Thank you so much for this reset!
With enormous hugs from America!
Michelle
I shall try to continue to do a tiny task every day in a 20 day rotation!
Thank you Diane ❤️
Thank you so much for this series Diane! I’ve managed a tiny task every day (even on the weekends!) and I’ll just replay the series until I get some motivation back. I struggle with SAD every winter, and it’s been a colder and snowier one than usual. When it’s -32*C with 70km winds tomorrow, I’ll bring up a box from the basement and sit in front of the fireplace and sort through it ❤️
Thank you so much Diane! The best part has been having someone to tell me what to do. I am self-employed, so even at work I have to make all the decisions. Sometimes I dream of an assistant that could give me a schedule and I would just go and do the things! This was a little bit like that!
Thank you for this series, Diane. It has helped put things into perspective and helped me refocus on what I need to be doing. “ there’s my tiny task done for today!” has given me a little bit of joy each day, and I’ve noticed now that before I head downstairs every morning or upstairs at the end of the day I look around for PUPA!
Good luck with your upcoming move – big or small, near or far, it’s just a hassle, and I’m looking forward to seeing you tackle it!
Dear Diane, this series made me love you even more 😉 !
The best day for me was the first one: I was struggeling with feeling depressed once again and felt unable to do even the tiniest task. I just wanted to go to bed and forget about all the mess around me. But after watching your video I thought -okay, I sure am able to count to ten – and put away ten things from my messy dining table. And all of a sudden it looked no more that messy.
I continued with the remaining 5 or 7 things and voilà the dining room looked clean again. The best Part: my energy had returned and I did the dishes and shined my sink, so the kitchen looked good again, too. What had seemed to me to be an unsurmountable mountain was done for good in much less time than I suspected.
Now every time I feel like I am too depressed to do anything, I remember that evening and tell myself – come on, just think of Diane and count to ten – and I feel my energy returning and my mood lifting and do a small 10-count-P.u.p.a, which usually leeds to doing more and feeling better about myself.
I also wrote your 20 tiny tasks on a little piece of paper each und put those into what I call my Reset-Jar. Each time I meed a little energy reset I pull out one of them and do what it says. Fun and efffective!
Thank you so very much!!!
