Don’t be fooled by our smiles, the sea is cold in December! 7c/44f.
As usual, we warmed up afterwards with a hot cuppa tea and some snacks. Yesterday we enjoyed spiced Christmas tea, Swedish pepparkakor biscuits and clementines…
Our winter days are very short, so I love to mark the days with candles.

Add Yours →Oooh, three of my absolute favorite seasonal goodies: spiced tea, pepparakor biscuits, and clementines! I can SMELL them just thinking about it. 🎄Getting into the DARK sea would take some coaxing, though.😰
Sunset is at 5:15 pm in my part of US, but the Christmas tree adds a warm glow. It’s mornings I struggle with since sunrise isn’t until nearly 8 am! That’s where a cup of tea isn’t just nice, it’s necessary 😆

Lots of dark in Portland, OR as well. Although we currently have about 102 minutes of daylight more here. Sunrise is just before 8 am and sunset about 16:30.
Our sunset here in Alberta is at about 4:15 pm MST and our sunrise is at about 8:47 am MST. But tomorrow is the winter solstice and our days will start to get longer!! 👏 Now if we could only get out of this cold snap we’re having, winter wouldn’t be so bad! (It’s -27 C here with windchill in the -30’s!) 🥶 Have a lovely, hygge Christmas Diane!

That did look cold, but your snacks looked delicious! Sunset here in Brittany is around 5:30 pm, and that’s when I bring the sheep in for the night and feed them dinner!

So very peaceful, thank you. Here in Northcentral Florida, usa sunup to sundown is 07:20 – 17:34. Where I used to live it’s much closer to your short days, only 40min more. I don’t remember many candles but the fireplace was going everyday.
Sunset is at 4:52 here in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. I plan to make fruitcake cookies today to create some good smells in the house!

Wow! That is so early but gosh it all looks so lovely. Hello from a little bit cloudy today San Diego, California 🫶🏼 Sunset today will be 16:46. I think what I love most about this time of year is how peaceful it seems and how intentional I have to be to get out before sunset 🫶🏼

A lovely post Diane. The sauna sounds lovely. Here in Australia it’s summer, so sunset is after 8 pm. Water today was 23.7centigrade! I know, I know. Warm as toast. We often go to the beach of an afternoon. Unfortunately sharks of all types like to be active at sunrise and sunset so we are a bit wary about dipping at these times, but many Aussies do, in fact there’s a sea swimming group here called The Sharkbaiters that swim 2km ,from one beach to another, in the sea at sunrise. Nuts!
