Mini Cruise from Copenhagen to Oslo with my Bestie, Sue!

Do you prefer a big holiday, or are you happiest with a short getaway that gives you a quick recharge? This past week I pressed pause on my regular routines and enjoyed a mini cruise to Oslo from Wednesday to Friday with my Bestie, Sue. It was just the recharge we needed and we had fabulous sunny weather!

The Go Nordic ship leaves from Nordhavn harbour at 4.30pm and cruises overnight, arriving in Oslo at 10am. There is a choice of restaurants, cafés and bars on board and we dined at the buffet, had cocktails in the bar and took part in a music quiz and bingo. We also brought our own snacks and drinks to enjoy on board plus, of course, I had packed Rummikub!

Our first stop in Oslo this year was the Kok sauna club where we shared the sauna experience with some other travellers from America and Scotland. Beautiful weather for dipping in the harbour, with fabulous views of the Opera House!

Then we walked around the harbour to the Munch museum and took the elevator up to the 13th floor for a champagne lunch!

After lunch it was time to stretch our legs again. So we wandered along Karl Johans Gate, the shopping area, stopping to buy some Freia chocolate hearts (yum!) and had a coffee in the sun.

Then it was time to say goodbye to Oslo, heading back on board at 4pm, just in time to settle in for our 4.30pm sailing back to Copenhagen. A lovely calm crossing and we were back in Copenhagen by 10am.

I came home relaxed and happy, reminded once again that small adventures with good friends make the best memories! (Some of you may remember that we did this same cruise last year. This year our small cabin with a view cost 500 Danish kroner, terrific value for two nights for two people, if you don’t mind a squeeze!)

Have you ever taken a mini break? Where did you go? It’s such a fun and easy way to feel like you’ve really been away!

Hugs
