Happy Tuesday from Copenhagen! How do you feel about cleaning the bedroom—do you love making it cozy and hygge, or is it the room you tend to ignore until the clutter piles up?
This week we’re in Flylady Zone 4: the master bedroom. The place where we start and finish every day deserves a little extra love! Don’t worry—we’re not aiming for perfection and we are not doing marathon cleaning sessions. Just set your timer for 5–10 minutes and do a little bit at a time. And as usual I have some quick and easy ideas for you!
Three quick bedroom tasks (Flylady Zone 4)
- Clear off your night table Remove the clutter (tea mugs, snotty hankies, random items) wipe it down and stand back and admire your efforts!
- Vacuum under the bed. What’s hiding below? Out of sight shouldn’t mean out of mind!
- Declutter the “clothes chair.” You know the one—it’s really just a pile of procrastination! Take a minute and make a decision. If the item can be worn again (I usually wear items several times before washing), hang it up to air. If it’s dirty, pop it straight in the washing basket.
If you want to do more, check my Flylady Zone 4 Bedroom Checklist. And if you’d like company while you work, my body doubling cleaning videos are always there—you don’t have to do it alone!
Three self-care ideas in the bedroom
- Change the bedding. Nothing beats sliding into crisp, clean sheets – one of my simple joys!
- “Shop your house” and redecorate the room with items borrowed from other places in the house like a vase, candlestick, throw pillows, soft rug or lamp.
- Play with your wardrobe. Try out new outfit combinations and actually wear them this week—it’s fun, inspiring and gives your clothes a new lease of life!
Self-care is not selfish. A tidy bedroom and a few small pampering moments really help you rest and recharge! Yesterday I had a lovely sea dip with my Danish Besties, Vibeke and Helene, then we biked straight to the cinema to see Downtown Abbey. (There’s a real nip in the air now – time to wear warmer layers and gloves!) My heart is full this morning!
What’s one little thing you’ll do in your bedroom this week—for cleaning or for yourself? Leave a comment, I’d love to hear!
And if you’d like some extra motivation while you work, don’t forget my body doubling videos are always there—we can clean and declutter together in real time. Rah, rah, rah!
And last, but not least, I uploaded a new video yesterday all about how I went from messy to minimalist over the past 15 years, simply by doing small daily declutters. It’s living proof that tiny steps really do add up! Have a brilliant day!
Hugs
