Phew, it’s been a while (I’ve been busy behind the scenes with selling our house and buying an apartment) so let’s dive in!
Hello from super sunny Copenhagen! Summer has officially arrived here in Denmark (1 June), and we are absolutely making the most of it!
I’ve been enjoying lots of sea dips with my Danish Besties, Vibeke and Helene. Sometimes first thing in the morning with our breakfast and sometimes at lunchtime with our picnic of ryebread sandwiches.
And there have, of course, been some Shenanigans with my lovely friend, Erika from America. Yesterday we finally managed to get together after a couple of weeks when we’ve been ships passing in the night… First we had a walk around the city and did some window shopping.
Then we sat under the shade of a parasol, with a chilled glass of rosé, watching the canal boats passing by at Gammel Strand. Nothing fancy. Just one of those lovely moments where you sit back and think, life is good!
The long summer evenings are probably my favourite thing about living in Denmark. At the moment it’s light until almost 11pm, which feels like a treat every single year (and I’ve lived here for 27 years). A payoff for getting through those long, dark winter months, ha ha! There’s a real buzz about the city at this time of year – it’s hard not to be in a good mood when the evenings seem to go on forever!
But I know this time of year can be a challenge when it comes to keeping up with routines. Suddenly your days are filled with summer parties, graduations, holidays, barbecues and all sorts of social events. Before you know it, the weeks are flying by, and you haven’t time to enjoy it all!
So, if you’re feeling a bit off track, overwhelmed or frazzled, don’t worry. You don’t have to do everything perfectly!
I’ve linked a video below that I think will really help if you’re needing a little motivation to stay on track over the summer months. Please look after yourself!
And I’ll be back with more news very soon. I’ve been busy learning a new skill recently, which has been both exciting and a little challenging. Woo hoo!
In the meantime , enjoy the sunshine if you’ve got it, make some lovely memories, and keep looking after yourself!
Hugs
Diane in Denmark
