It’s Good Friday in Denmark and, as is the British tradition, I’m enjoying a Hot Cross bun. I don’t bake them myself (though some of my friends do), I bought mine from Wild Kiwi Pies (a New Zealand baker here in Copenhagen who make excellent meat pies).

In other news, we have a little visitor!

Yes, it wouldn’t be Easter without a visit from our kids and Kiko the rescue kitten. Kiko was very interested in my chocolate Easter egg…

But he gets his own treat in the mornings, cat milk, enjoyed in our finest wedding china from Villeroy & Boch, Luxembourg!

Table set for dinner with some fresh daffodils from our garden.

Last night’s dinner was duck confit (forgot to take a photo) served with salted potatoes

And a salad of fresh rucola, cherry tomatoes, feta cheese and cashews.

The kids made the dessert. Can you guess what it is?

Tiramisu! And very good it was too.

Looking for a unique Easter craft? Try making a Danish gækkebrev. I make one for the kids each year! Here’s a VERY OLD video of mine (over 8 years ago?), so fun to watch!
Have a wonderful day, wherever you are in the world!

Hugs

Add Yours →The video was enchanting and made my morning. My heart was warmed that even though Tweet and Sparky are living it up in their new home, you might still have a feather to remember them by.
I love that lamb. So cute. And of course I love the cat, Kiki. He’s gotten big since the last time I saw him. Happ Easter to you and your family!
Happy Easter! It’s also my birthday today so we went for lunch as a family (son has a go karting party for a friend’s birthday this evening ao my birthday dinner got bumped 😉) The kind staff atbrhe restaurant overheard us talking and surprised me with a candle in a large portion of tiramisu! Made me smile when I saw the delicious looking one your children made. We were lucky as a missile alert sounded earlier in the morning, so we have to stay inside if possible, but luckily, the all-clear message came through before we needed to leave for lunch. Might watch your craft video and make something this afternoon. Thanks as always for the inspiration and photos of Spring in Europe.
Happy Easter, Diane. Enjoy the holiday and the time with your family and Kiko. The table setting was beautiful and the food looks delicious.
I love your table scape! It looks so festive!
Kitty! Good Friday is gray and gloomy where I am. We are going to an ecumenical church service-walk on my town green at 12 noon. We visit 4 churches and clergy from all over town speak/pray/worship, it’s powerful. I hope to find a hot cross bun for breakfast!
Thanks for sharing Diane! I love your posts! Leigh in CT USA
I knew the visitor would be Kiko! 😽
Thank you for the reminder tonpick up some (more) Hot Cross Buns! We are headed out of town and they will be our little treat.
Vibeke always decorates so elegantly – I aleays feel such a sense of calm when you take us to her beautiful home.
Happy Easter 🐣 xx
Happy Easter Diane! Beautiful family memories! I love that your kids joined in made something special. Kiko is beautiful! Blessings to you and yours!
Although bread is no longer part of my regular eating, I did treat myself to half a dozen small hot cross buns from the bakery, two yesterday then one per day for the remainder of the weekend. It just isn’t Easter without them! Today, in southern Ontario🇨🇦, it will be 23C, feeling 26C (our first humidity rating of the season). It won’t last beyond today so I shall spend some time in the garden enjoying the 🌞 before the thunderstorms blow through the area tonight bringing cooler weather.
Happy Easter, Diane

Happy Easter Diane! Enjoy your time with loved ones:)
Happy Easter, dear Diane and everybody who reads this – once we are there. Today is God’s Friday and I enjoyed Bach’s Marcus Oratorium today and I am very much enchanted. We have my mother in law with us and we will go all together to my parents place.
There are many traditions around food here in Bavaria but this year I limited myself to colour 20 hard boiled eggs and bought a cake shaped like a lamb in the local bakery :-). On Sunday the Easter bunny hides chocelate eggs in our garden and even lost some from time to time during the last days already. Unbelievable. .
Oh I love Kiko! Happy Easter to you Diane 🙂
Kiko has such a dear face! Hot cross buns are very much on the menu here, and we have enjoyed a warm day, for a change. Sending hugs from Toronto!
Happy Easter to you and your family. Tiramisu is my favorite dessert. My granddaughter, Annie, makes the best I have ever tasted. 🌻
Happy Easter! Thanks for the cheery and uplifting video with usable ideas for Easter.
